Basically the shows follows a Black Family who moved to Compton, which was a white area, in the 1950s.

The trailer instantly hooked me and was really looking forward to watch the show

Watched the 1st episode and I must say that I am not disappointed at all. It has an air of déjà vu and Jordan Peele's movies will instantly get into your mind when watching 'them'.

However, I did enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who love to explore the soul of black lives as described by Dubois' double consciousness.

But at the moment I'm watching the stand, 99% of the worlds population dies of a flu virus, bit over exaggerated imo

Is this the project that John Boyega won the award for?

*update*

I am currently at episode 8 !

One of the best show I have never seen in a long time.

The way the character's emotional state as well as the psychological ambience are framed by the director and portrayed by the actors is just sublime and perfectly convey the insidious, dangerous and multi faceted aspects of systemic racist.

It is so difficult to watch ! But necessary.

I can't recommend it enough

a masterpiece !

.

After reading this thread a few days ago, I decided to give it a watch. I'm finding it difficult viewing (in part due to family history) and also, some of it does sit uncomfortably with me - is it exploiting the black struggle for a Hollywood audience? In parts it feels like it's degradation porn, the main characters come up against unending torment and struggle and violence; it's almost gleefully done under the guise of being horror and sympathetic to racial struggles.

I loved Get Out. It perfectly captured the simmering racial tension, it was thought provoking and handled the subject matter with dark humour and care.

I'm not sure how I feel about Them currently. I love the horror elements, the rawness of grief. I'm not sure about some parts of it though. I'm going to watch a few more episodes and see how it sits with me.

Some parts were difficult to view but sadly all to familiar. All in all it’s definitely one to watch. We’re about episode 5 I think, after binge watching on Sunday I lost track

I just finished episode 4 and was enjoying it (in a very uncomfortable way). I saw the disclaimer at the start of episode 5 and had a horrible feeling I knew what was coming. I decided to Google what happens so I could steel myself but it's even worse than I imagined. Will I be lost for the rest of the series if I skip this episode?
