Do forums alter the views you've had

Forums from what I've observed on here and fg tend to get repeated subject wise. Has anyone read all the threads and thought differently about the subject. Have they made you more or less tolerant? Less or more judgemental?

Brighton - even Hove!

I wish I had been kept ignorant of some things.

I've changed my views on quite a few things. I think you need vto be fairly tolerant to be open to changing your opinion anyway.

I've certainly had my views expanded. There are subjects that have led me to challenge my own thinking and see my own hypocrisy at times.

There are some subjects tho that are so extremely personal and have had huge impact on me that my views will not change, and if they did I'd be betraying myself and my core values.

Yes absolutely.

Sometimes it confirmed what I already thought. Other time, it pleasantly surprised me.

Yes this, it good that you question ideas and views but equality, you must be able to question your own views and beliefs. The only way to evolve.

I think everyone will have a deeply personal issue that no amount of discussion would change. Don't think you're alone on that score

Yep, definitely. It's helped me a lot in terms of understanding what makes a good profile and allowed me to manage my expectations in terms of what to expect from the site.

In terms of forum topics, I think the majority use their common sense pretty well so my existing views have mostly been confirmed as opposed to having done a complete 180

I think you can learn a lot on here.

Whether it’s about different subjects, other people, or even yourself.

I am much less judgmental Than I was years ago, everyone has a differing opinion on everything.

I have had my mind changed a lot actually, on things I once thought as ‘taboo’ or a little ‘out there’ sexually, I now know it as normal and natural to some.

Thanks fab.

Manchester (he/him)

I’ve learnt a huge amount from the forums on topics, fetishes, kinks, people and myself.

I think that it takes a special kind of stubborn to not learn or have your opinions shifted from an extended period of time on here.

I’d never encountered a cross dresser nor a trans person before my time on here and I learnt a huge amount on those topics alone in my first few months, let alone anything else

I’m can’t really recall if my opinion has actually changed because of anything on here but it does broaden your understanding when you read others perspectives on subjects.

I know my opinion on some things have changed. Not radically but sometimes I see things from a different perspective and it helps

I have learned a lot. Reading topics that you wouldn't normally talk about in the real world, listening to people who voice fears and ask for help that they have not had the courage to ask for without the anonymity of the internet. I have learned how fluid sexuality can be etc.

I don't think I've had any of my fundamental beliefs changed, but have certainly taken on views around subjects where I did not previously have sufficient knowledge to form one.

I've also learned an awful lot about some views I'd rather not have...

I came here from the kink scene, so I have been consistently disappointed by how conservative, paranoid, hateful, misogynistic, racist and just generally unpleasant the Fab forums are.

There are clearly some great people I wish I could get to know in person, but others... there's a reason I so strongly wish that there was a proper blocking function.
