Depends on the pattern. I love my stripey stair carpet but also prefer plain in the bedroom

Plain carpet lovers here.

Rugs though, that’s a whole different thing. Although that might need its own thread as it’s equally as controversial..

I quite like patterned on the stairs but plain everywhere else and always hard floor downstairs. I guess it depends on your home style though.

I am in the middle of trying to choose for the stairs & landing I prefer plain but I do know a pattern is more likely not show dirt or stains as much. Stupidly I had crane going up the stairs last time.

I only have hard flooring as only solution if you have pets. But I do own Moroccan rugs in various colours and patterns.

Did you not get woodstain all over yourself doing it naked?

Always plain and you can always go wild with rugs to add patterns and colours as a statement feature.

Easier and cheaper to change rugs than have a new carpet.

The big question is underlay or not

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

The bungalow that ma Dad built in the early 60's had Parquet flooring throughout, complete with underfloor heating.

It was excellent for having sliding competitions when I was a kid

Whatever your choice, you need a good quality gripper to hold everything tightly in place. Expert fitting makes all the difference. The better anything is laid the more likely the longevity.

Worthing

Plain every time. Patterned makes room look smaller.
