Why aren't adverts funny anymore

Anyone else remember when they used to make great TV adverts?

Carling Black Label

Hamlet

Castlemaine xxxx

Man from milk tray

Cadbury's flake nearly caused the premature demise of the slow motion button on our video player.

These and more were fantastic.

Have all the great minds in advertising retired ??

No it's because everyone panders to the sensitive minority who claim to be offended by just about everything. if they make a funny advert some bored over sensitive sole will complain about well anything.

So I am guessing that they just don't bother trying to be funny.

We are heading towards a sterile vanilla society where everyone is too scared of offending anyone and humour does not compute.

There is to much advertising as well.

On the tv i would estimate that out of every one hour of programming 15 -20 minutes is advertising, on the radio its even worse, play two songs then about five minutes of advertising.

Actually I never noticed, I hardly watch TV, but yeah, everything is so po faced and humourless now, I remember some adverts being proper laugh out loud funny and loved them when they come, this is what happens when you water everything down to try and please everybody, but you just end up with bland and banal.
