A teacher, from the age of 5 that’s all I ever wanted to do. I became a teaching assistant instead and have loved my career. Only have one year left to do at uni to actually become a teacher but not sure I really want the stress of it. Left education on maternity leave 5 years ago and was perfectly happy as a stay at home mum until lockdown happened and I accidentally walked into a job in the admin side of healthcare. Has reignited an ambition to look into family care work if I ever decide I want a full time job again

It was 5'6. That's why I couldn't join. I got told I was 2 inches too short and I remember that like it was yesterday. I applied at 18 and it would have been June/July.

I did get offered the job many years later but declined as I couldn't imagine taking the bleep test. I would have collapsed

As a kid I thought that jobs were a man made construct designed to keep the masses occupied while in pursuit of material possessions that we don’t need but are convinced that we do through social pressures to conform, to keep up with the Jones, I thought then as I do now that we would have been better off carrying on picking berries and living off the land.
