I'm going to weigh myself

Jump to newest

By *ad Nanna OP   Woman

East London

Not the right time of day to be doing it, plus they aren't calibrated, but, I'm going to weigh myself and aim at losing a stone by summer.

Have a guess at what I weigh and if you're correct you get a full length, naked photo of me in your inbox by the weekend.

Women can use it as a deterrent for eating carbs.

Men can use it for the usual.

If you have a weak stomach please don't participate.

Totally this. Plus theres zero info to go off... height is a big factor for anyone brave enough to guess (not me).

A stone by summer is totally doable though, so best of luck op,Im sure you'll smash it

The pic is old, but I'm probably around about that fat.

Let me think.

Guesses should be over 16 stone.

As I only take part in serious threads I’m gonna need to see a current full length body picture to make any kind of guess.

I’m very supportive of your quest though op so I hope this is a serious kind of thing.

Very serious. If I don't lose weight I'll probably become very ill or unable to walk in the next few years.

You really won't want a full frontal of me naked. You'll have nightmares

"

Changing your diet is the key to weight loss."

A consistent moderate diet and adding incrementally more activity is the way to go. Extremes of both can work, but its brutally punushing physically and mentally.

A mix of a cardio and resistance is what worked for me.

Also, its really worth taking progress photos. On my own journey there were points where I felt I wasnt making progress and the 'before and afters' definitely helped to put things in perspective... still do infact.

I'm not buying anything with sugar added, and walking more.

I've been drinking a lot of Lucozade lately for the energy, so that will have to go.

Our meals are generally healthier options, with the occasional potato or pastry. It's the evening snacking that will be hardest to break the habit.

I can't take it lots of information and I don't want a diet. I need to go back to eating normally and moving around more.

There's no point me dieting if I'm not moving, and I don't want a faddy diet that isn't healthy for my organs.

I’m not talking about any faddy diet but you have to change what you’ve been eating and the quantities to make any difference to your weight.

I’m no expert on the what and when’s but someone like shag could probably give you some great advice.

I need motivation more than advice.

I lost a lot of weight a few years back, then started a downwards spiral through grief, ill health and an operation. Then we had bloody locked and, voila!, here I am.

I'm going to weigh myself now.

I'm taking off 2lb for my dinner though

Theres your own motivation right there, you've done it before so you can do it again.

Set backs happen, and its totally understandable. Focus on one day at a time, and every day you'll be a step closer than you were yesterday.

You got this

I'm feeling stronger than I have felt in a long time; which motivates me.

Pain and exhaustion isn't much of a motivator to cook. I also crave chocolate when I'm tired but not able to sleep.

Aww Steve, that's really kind of you, but I am a hefty 18 and a half stone.

The heaviest I've ever been.

I seem to have plateaued though, which is good.

Now to find the willpower to not reach for snacks at night.

I'm not going to buy any for a start.

The Lay off the chocolate, biscuits and crisp diet.

My meals are the easy part; it's the Lucozade and snacks I struggle with.

I started a food diary on the 25th and realised I drink a lot of my calories.

I forgot to do it since.

I did see something online with a very large person and thought fuck, that could be me if I don't rein this in.

I'm feeling very positive about it today. I'll never be an athlete, because of my arthritis, but I would like to trot for a bus without my knees buckling.

There's no mystery to loosing weight no matter how many diet books or magazine articles suggest. It's simply consuming more calories than your body expends.

Exercise will burn more calories but it's tiny compared to what's in food. Go for a brisk daily walk instead of joining the gym.

Remove the temptation of snacking by not buying them, if there's none in the cupboard they won't be eaten. Grab a piece of fruit instead or a carrot if your adventurous

If high calorie drinks are the issue swap to sugar free, or low calorie squash etc.

The most difficult for some is alcohol so reduce the intake as much as you can.

Yes it's hard (I've just been snacking while reading the forums) but it can be done, making small changes are better than going for a fad or crash diet and also more likely to be long lasting.

Good luck and don't forget to send us the pics when you get to where you want to be
