You had a smear test done?

Is it due? Do you know when it's due?

It's important to do it and regulary so I'm posting this in the hopes it reminds some of you and you get it booked in.

About three years ago. As you get older the time between tests lengthens to 7 years I think and I believe they stop testing at 67 unless you request one. I'll be requesting one.

In Scotland its every 5 years so I am due one in three years. I always get checked as a few minutes mild uncomfortableness is worth it. Many females I know have had to have further investigations done, myself included

Last year. I was unsure when it was due the year before that so I phoned my gp, it took 2 mins to check. If you are unsure if you are due one just check with your gp.

Also for the older ladies on here, if they no longer offer it for your age range tell them you have had some spotting, smear should be booked there and then. I lost an aunt as she was past the age for testing.

Bit odd for me to add to this... But... My daughter (25)had hers recently... All good but.. She was very nervous about it.. Daddy gave her a big kiss and cuddle and told it would all be OK x

I have mine tomorrow.

In my 20's I had abnormal results for five years, had colposcopys often and heat treatment. So I didn't miss mine. I was yearly after all of that but now on 3 yearly.

Reading

They are testing a home test. It will only give an indicator as to whether a full smear test is needed. This should greatly increase the uptake.

Really?

I hope this happens.

I have a bad phobia of doctors and hospitals etc .. and haven't been for a smear for about 25yrs.

This would change so many women's lives.

Some years back , in a clinic, I was knickers off , legs a akimbo. The brush effort went up my foof and the 'nurse' uttered words that shot to my core and left me traumatised...........

Dec 22nd, had been well over due, only due to "other medical issues" preventing it being done.

Had all my other pipe work and std's checked at same time. Any plumber would be impressed with my clean pipes. Everything came bavk all clear.

Ladies, it can feel embarrising to have it done. But spotting stuff early is only a good thing.
