Yes boxing seemed to throw up those fights more often in my opinion...

Ali Frasier Norton Foreman was another of those ...golden rivalries.

Usain Bolt vs Tyson Gay was a good watch for both the 100m and 200m

Mickey award vs Arturo Gatti was one of the best boxing trilogies, the Benn, Eubank and Watson fights were great although sad for Watson who was the best of the bunch imo

"Keane v Viera "

Yep

Above- Liverpool And United??? Not half as good as the Arse-nal days. Wenger and Ferguson were brilliant and at the top of their game in the 90s, some of the best memories from the premierShip will over shadow Liverpool’s short spurts of the odd good match.

There and to the left a bit

Whilst not strictly any event - it is sports related - the story of the rivalry between Adidas and Puma is a fascinating one - there's an excellent book called Pitch Invasion by Barbara Smit that details it.

For anyone that doesn't know Adidas was originally set up by two brothers who then fell out in the 1940s, one kept the Adidas brand, while the other started Puma - and they went toe to toe for many years with some very underhand tactics, for example Pele (I think it was) preferred Adidas boots but was sponsored by Puma, so Puma doctored a pair of Adidas to look like Puma's for one of the World Cup's (Mexico 70 I think).

I have a feeling the all blacks did similar with their boot sponsors back in the 80s?

The first line of the copa 90 derby day doc describes this superclasico perfectly.... imagine Barcelona playing Real Madrid in the champions league final... and times it by 100!
