"They should all be exempt from tax for the rest of their working life's and get a pay rise. " Pay rise ~ yes. Exempt from paying tax ~ absolutely not.

"I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling like this .. I’ve worked through out and so have many many people to keep this country going but are we getting a pay rise or a bonus...no...it’s our jobs. Millions are struggling due to job losses, surely they need help too. Some have worked all their lives and then boooom..job loss and find themselves at food banks, frightened to put the heating on and so on..do we hear about them on the news and in the papers....no.. Rant over..." No you are not alone in thinking this. I think it too.

Trying to keep patient after patient alive while they gasped for breath, long punishing shifts etc.

"Our NHS staff deserve more than applause and 1% is not enough. @scotgov is offering a 4% pay rise, which would deliver guaranteed minimum increase of £1000 for those earning less than £25,000 & 5.4% increase for staff on lowest pay band...and all backdated to December 2020. From Nic " Much deserved I have to say but the synic in me says election looming.

"4% minimum will barely allow them to keep pace with inflation, with lower paid employees struggling the most from it Pay neess to catch up in real terms from stalling over 10+ years. It's great that Scotland has recognised the need for this level this year " It’s on top of a 9% over 3 years that’s just expired as well

If I had to work horrifically long hours, covered head to toe in protective gear whilst risking my life to save others then I sure as shit would want a pay rise too.

" The comparison merely serves to show that lots of people have to put up with pretty horrendous working conditions during the course of doing the job they signed up too. If caring for dying patients isn’t your thing maybe a front line NHS job isn’t for you.

"Anyone that works for NHS, be it cleaners, carers, doctors and nurses deserve alot more recognition and respect for what they do, they're the backbone of Britain and each and every one has sacrificed so much to help others. They have hearts of gold, they do unimaginable jobs that I could never think of doing I'd break down as I wouldnt be able to stomach what they have been through ... They recently as of 2021 cured my dad of an aggressive bowel cancer and helped him back into good health, they picked it up quickly and within 4 months were able to cure him and I cant thank them enough.... Anyone that works for NHS and is reading this ... Thank you! " Thank you very much

"Well at least that's in Scotland, backdated to December 20, and of course there was the £500 bonus payment as well. Not sure about rUK." Still waiting on my £500 bonus and so too are my colleagues. Plus it is getting taxed so will not be £500.

NHS staff have had their pay frozen for years with no cost of living increases (when pay is adjusted in line with inflation to keep you effectively earning the same) so as much as I support the 4% increase in Scotland, this still doesn't even catch them up in this regard.

So does everyone else that's been considered a front line/key worker. From cleaners to cashiers and all that's inbetween. It's taken more than the NHS to get us through. Lu
