"After years of getting nowhere , picking it up putting down , it was driving me crazy .. All I ever wanted to be was “ The worlds greatest rock n roll star ! “ And then she dumped me , cheated with another man , throw all my stuff onto the pavement , told me to never come back ! . I cut a sorry figure as I trudged up the road back to my crumby flat . I grabbed a bottle of whiskey from the store and sat down to drink , just me and my broken heart . I hit a u tube channel and as if by magic a name I’d never heard before flashed before my eyes ..Fred Macdowell.. It was an epiphany!! .. That’s how you play guitar ... you slide the thing ..next stop , Shane Speal , he got a set of wire cutters and literally just cut 3 strings out and tuned to GDG .. it all became much clearer .. The lord shone his light .. White boy had the blues . Half a bottle of whiskey later and I had played my first Deep South blues grind . 2 and a bit years later I’ve just bought a lovely old Resonator , and I’m having the best fun .. and I still don’t even know which one is the B string !! If your struggling with a whole heap of fancy pant chord changes .. slide it .. make some noise .. " I never tried a resonator but the sound definitely is something else

"I know 3 chords and the truth I think is a good start as there's hundred of musics that only they use 3 chords like D , c and G " There are indeed and they're about my level! I love playing but make no claims to be any good (mainly because I'm not!) but I snapped a string late last year and still haven't replaced it

They on the market , relatively new but i didn't know the first one was released in 1959 , i love the colours they come out with and sound really good but the start prices they still unaffordable for my purse

"I found the F Barr chord and the G chord the most challenging G is easy but usually the f bar chord is the one most people struggle " I can vouch for this. The F Barr chord has almost stopped me in my tracks. Just can't get all the strings. I have got 5 strings a couple of times. But the 2nd string eludes me. Practice practice, I know. Any advice appreciated.

"Me. I've played guitar since I was 8. Professionally since I was 17 and have only ever worked in the music industry. Nice done anything exciting " Yes. I've had the good fortune to tour the world many times getting to meet and play for wonderful people in wonderful countries. Wouldn't swap it for everything. Don't get me wrong. I still have all the paperwork and stuff like that everyone else deals with. But seeing as though you spend a huge chunk of your adult life working might as well get paid to do your hobby.

The others, especially Larry were always nice enough to me. I knew Chris in the very early days. Before it was called 'grunge' lol and he was great. Got on fine with him. Petrified of flying though so we gave him a wide berth on 'airport' days haha

"Mr here. I've recently bought an acoustic, and been teaching myself through YouTube. I love it. At the stage now where I can play a tune and have a sing along, so satisfying. Still can't master bar chords though , but I'll keep trying. " How long you been playing now? Been thinking about giving it a go myself in between drumming

It's therapeutic but also really great fun, one of the best things I ever done. I've never been musically minded, but am absolutely loving it.

At 12 I played my friends drum kit for the first time, within 15 mins I was playing 4-4 beat so I carried on. I’m not good at doing things I suck at and seeing no swift progression

Just keep plugging away at it and eventually you get the strength to hold the strings down. Exercises help accelerate it (spiders/hammers etc)
