Does anyone think that the government put stories out there that are just to distract us from their activities. Get us to argue about things like female safety and such like to distract from other things..

Possibly. Donald Trump was famous for throwing dead cats on the table at times of crisis to distract from the real story. Politics is about perception and look as much as substance, every government has done it, more so since Alistair Campbell

Yes, divide and conquer.. sums it up better and of course women's safety is a huge huge very important issue.. I just think they exploit things like that as a distraction..
