Anyone noticed the trend where guys message you saying something along the lines od

'I know I'm not what you're looking for but I had to write to you to say how fantastically sexy you are.....'

If you know I'm not what you're looking for then don't message

If you want to pay me a compliment then just do that

Do you mean they say you aren’t what they are looking for, or that they aren’t what you are looking for?

If its the later then its just people taking a chance.

If its the former then yes, its a form of negging where you are then meant to take up the challenge and prove that yes you are what they are looking for!

People will do what they can to get a reply/message in the hope it may lead somewhere

Apparently something that contributes to the gender pay gap is that men actually do this and sometimes it works . Women only tend to apply for jobs they totally meet the criteria for.

I’m not sure what that would be (apart from “chancer”), but it isn’t negging. Negging is when they say something disparaging about you, either to then say they’ll give you a go anyway (you’re supposed to be grateful at that point ), or in hopes that you’ll then do anything to prove that you’re not whatever they said (uptight or whatever). All completely gross and I block everyone who tries it with me.

I think that saying they know they're not what you're looking for means they don't expect an answer. At least they acknowledge the fact I like those who quite clearly aren't but ask to meet anyway.

However sometimes when I reply thanks they assume that means I want to ride their face.

Negging is to put you down or target your self esteem to manipulate you into sleeping with them.

This is valid but if you think about it this entire site rotates around manipulative behaviours. “Marketing” yourself via a photo or profile or cam chat or form post - in most cases this it to attract attention. Which is manipulation. Not necessarily negative as seems to be the case with negging. Which is new to me also.
