How do you prep your potatoes before you bake them?

Do you prick them? Or just shove ‘em in the oven?

Somewhere In The Ether…

I cut them and then give them a rustle in a colander to roughen the edges which in turn leads to a nice crispy outer skin after baking

Stab it with a fork until my glasses are covered in potato juice, massage tenderly with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt before cooking low and slow. Smooth in the inside, crunchy on the outside.

I give them a little poke, rub salt into their wounds, then wrap in foil before popping them in the oven. Depending on the potatoes, may rub a little oil on them also.

So are you all microwaving them first and then finishing them off in the oven?

If just in the oven how long do they take to cook through?

In answer to the OP I prick the potato skin first.

La la land

I don't prick them, but put a little oil on the skins so they crisp up. Tend to make them when making something else and forget about them. And use them during the week.

I either cut round the middle so their easier to open when they've been baked, or cut a cross if you're being fancy

Stab em brutally with a knife, then rub a little oil on to say sorry, then some salt in the wounds of the poor potato
