Are you a people person?

The older I get the less I want to be around other people.

Especially people I don't know in a busy public place.

This has only happened in the last 5yrs or so.

I used to be a social butterfly - always in company, always out and about.

Now I get irritated very easily.

No, hate to be around people. Lockdown has been amazing for me as I don't have to go out for weeks if I don't want to.

Socially yes we like going out and mingling at home and privately no.. We are like hermits we would quite happily go to a friends for a drink or a party but when they come to ours we can't wait for them to leave (not in a bad way) it's just that our house is our space and we don't like friends in it

For short periods yes. I can only cope for so long though, and that’s with people of my choosing.

I think social distancing should stay forever, so we’re always 2m away from strangers

Never been good in larger crowds / parties. Prefer to know the people around me.

I do like people watching though.

Since lockdown i realised I like people possibly more than I thought. I've missed the interaction with them.

I think I’m fairly social, and enjoy people around, for a while, but as I’ve grown older I definitely appreciate the lack of noise and chill time when not around as well.

As ever, a balance is important - not disliking our own company and also not being totally anti-social that it affects support or mental health etc. I’ve always worked with people, and enjoyed socialising at usual times, but enjoy that silence and lie in of weekends as well

The more people in one space the more likely it is that someone will kick off and ruin the atmosphere

I never enjoy big social gatherings and things like shopping give me brain ache as I find it laborious and annoying because of people. Although people say lockdown has been bad for mental health because of lack of social interaction I’ve quite enjoyed it at times with how quiet it’s been.

Nope!! I love my own space and being at home. I much prefer being amongst a few close friends than a room full of strangers. I do occasionally love a social event but it takes a lot of thinking through in my head first and takes days to mentally recover.

I choose dogs.

I totally agree with this... I'm a social butterfly on my terms. The majority of times I'll choose solitary or small group interactions over large groups. Work sadly dictates larger groups and these pesky face masks makes people think you're approachable!!!! Tough times

I do like social contact. I feel I need that. I chose my job because it has people contact, I’ve changed my role to engage more with people, but, I’m also a very private person who loves my own space, my own company and peace and quiet away from everyone and everything. I think I cope with one because I have the other.

I think it's mostly age related but it could happen if you've stopped working with the public too. The older we get the more our world grows smaller, so any interruption of that, then it becomes an irritation. To deal with that I create 'zones' 1 to 5. Got the idea years ago from the London Tube

Like Lex above, I chose my job because I thrive on social contact and love talking (I know, shocker isn't it). I'm not sure I'm a people's person, there are some I'm not fond of and I do find myself increasingly cynical but on the whole I like being social (when I feel comfortable, like most). I'm possibly better in smaller groups rather than one to one, I can find that a bit overwhelming and I'm really, really bad at eye contact.

I use to regularly boast about not liking people like it was clever. I also have had times where I would be anxious and not want to be around others so much. (Possibly caffeine provoked)

What I would say is we all a people person... depending on the people.

It’s ingrained in our DNA. Remember we are all on here conversing in some way or another with other people. What can happen is people can become so recluse they forget what it’s like to enjoy other peoples company, and I imagine that will happen post covid until people remember the joys of others.

But I think as I’ve gotten older I just have less patience for peoples bullshit, combined with my own self confidence to say this person ain’t for me.

Could be talking about me here!

I love spending time with people and I'm genuinely interested in them. I am in my element in a group, whether a small group of friends or a larger group - I'm very chatty and at ease with most people, and my job has a huge element of relationship building to it.

I do need to balance that with a fair amount of silent time on my own or I quickly feel frazzled and burned out.

I hear ya! I love being with my people but don't like people. If that makes any sense? Apparently the introvert stuff relates. You can be the life of the party but if you're introverted you get your energy from being with yourself. Recharging like.

Or you could just be sick of how people treat each other, disagree with what society deems as happiness etc.

Or you might have just caught Goth
