How to tell if someone is in chat

Loads of peeps on this site I’d love to chat with in the chatrooms but I find I always miss people. Is it luck of the draw or is there a way to tell if anyone in your hotlist is in the chatroom?

Look for a little speech bubble thing to the right of said users name

Ooh don’t think I’ve seen that before, not the blue dot next to “online now!” then? I was wondering if it was that
