So, what’s your clever tip?

How do you motivate yourself?

What methods do you use?

For me, I love using resistance bands to help target specific muscles.

I am not motivated at all to go to a gym, I know I wouldn’t go, but I use Amazon prime workouts at home.

I also have a dog who stares at me until I walk him, which really helps

If I’m lacking motivation, I remind myself I always feel better afterwards, mental health is my primary reason, the physical benefits are just an added bonus. The other factor is a chance to explore, I’ve found so many new trails and places since I’ve been running, cycling. Found an amazing trail only about 3 miles from my house, it has an expansive view of Dartmoor, then you descend down into a brook that I never knew was there, I couldn’t believe I lived here most of my life and I’ve never come across it before.

My PT at the gym. She is the owner of the gym and is an amazing lady.

She motivates me immensely, and is a constant huge support, and has helped me transformed my physical fitness and health, my mental health, and in whole, my life.

I struggle when the gym isn't open, although thankfully one of my jobs is very physical 7 days a week atm so it's keeping my fitness levels up. Just wish it would get the weight off, but that's another story.

Perpignan and cap

I find some videos on YouTube quite motivational. I've got to get "beach fit" this year.

Back in the old days, when gyms were open, I had a rule that I couldn't sit down and chill after work. I had to get straight in to gym kit and get out again, I knew that if I chilled out for a moment then I wouldn't get back up again Getting out of the door is the hardest part

Never knew prime had workouts... every day is a school day.

Any specific recommendations?

Travelling

I used to be fat and got bullied for it when I was a kid. Nothing is better motivation than a childhood complex also my dog literally will slam his paws on me and howls and pants when he wants walking so that helps to

Agree, improving mental health is a big part of it.

I search the type of workout I fancy, there’s loads. Tabata is a great one, it’s a hiit based workout.

Usually work up to a hot sweat after some good stretching, hip thrusts, squats, doing a few at a time then more and some push ups then into a 5k run on the treadmill xx every few days for the run and squats every day. Had helped a lot over lockdowns xxx

Just do it. I would rather stay inside but fresh air makes me feel better.

Definitely have to work out in the morning/late morning, anything after I just don't have the energy, don't know how some people do it in the evenings!

I normally get up and put my gym clothes on straight away so there's no excuse and I always tell myself I'll feel better after as I always do!

The thinking about it is much worse than doing it I find

Dog sounds a good idea to keep fit, I would have one if I was home all the time.

For me it’s a mix of my own motivation , habits and building things that force me to. My own motivation a pair of Levi 501 32” waist , habits - standing desk , plus I run with two other people at set times each week so even

If I don’t feel Like it I won’t let them down

I buy a new program and stick with it for three months/til it finishes. That’s all the motivation I really need to train.

Without being big headed I’m fairly well self disciplined and manage to train even on days I don’t feel like it. Also know my body well enough to spot when I’m over training and need to back off the intensity a few days.

Biggest tip I’ve ever been told is you can’t tone muscle. You can lose fat and make the muscle more defined or you can make the muscle bigger.

Could be complete nonsense but it’s made sense to me.

Also, lift heavy.

Accountability! I make a commitment to someone else that I don’t want to let down.

Also making it publicly known that I’m taking a challenge on (social media) as I wouldn’t like to have to tell someone who asks me about it, that I didn’t do it!

For me it was always about losing weight then i discovered other aspects of fitness like sleeping, cooking, weight lifting etc so i think keeping an open mind to all every aspects will help turning fitness into a permanent routine even to the point that you'll stop making progress but still do it out of habit, that is how i did it.

It really does. Exercise is an amazing tonic in life. I wish I had discovered it years ago, life could of been a whole load easier.

I never thought that I would be that person to say I love exercise, but I do. The benefits are amazing.

I always workout in the evenings after working my desk job and it's just an amazing stress release. I tend to feel a bit bleh if I don't do any exercise after work.

Admiring myself in the mirror mid-workout may also have a small part to play in it
