It does bring happiness & freedom for me anyway.

When I was a broke 21 year old with debts I had bad anxiety due to worrying about how to pay everything off, I couldn’t socialise or go away much as I didn’t have the income, now I’m a successful 27 year old who is debt free I don’t have to worry, I’m lucky enough to be able to do the things I want to, when I want to & not worry about the cost. (When there isn’t a pandemic of course).

It is a tool that would make life easier, but not happier. Happiness only comes from a mixture of what a person feels as valuable to their own life and is different from individual to individual.

I fail to see how a man made construct can make people change or evoke happiness.

Lack of money brings a lot of unhappiness so in that sense having enough doors make us happier. Bring rich though brings with it is own problems.

I'd say it can. Money can buy you time to do stuff you've always wanted to do. For example, if you were to win the lottery you wouldn't have to work again, meaning you could travel the world and explore etc.

The lad that came up with MySpace had the right idea. Sell the company and spend the rest of his days travelling the world and taking awesome photos

Well for me make ex-girlfriend put me in quite amount of debt still to this day I'm paying it off off-dry to get her done but obviously it's my word against hers I always say I wish her fairy godmother could send me some money which then I could pay off and start enjoying my life instead of worrying over my shoulder

It's rather hard to be happy if your not financially stable and worrying about how your going to feed your wife and children AND pay the bills. Having money doesn't bring happiness in and of itself but it can take those worries away. Family and friends make real happiness

Yes definitely, 100%.

I'd be absolutely thrilled to be able to own my own house, provide financial security for my family, buy a car and be able to travel, own pets and have more babies and not have to worry about bills.

I do think money can buy happiness in ways.

Money gives me opportunities to do things that make me happy. Traveling etc. So in a round about way, yes it does.

But i find things that don’t cost money make me the happiest, so in a round about way. No.

I think for most people having a guaranteed monthly income that comfortably covers the bills (some magical trust fund) Would be as valuable as a lottery win

For me I'm happy with what I've got yes my ex put me in debt and a lot of the time it does piss me off that it's taking a long time to get away from it but just got to live and learn

Right now I'm financially comfortable, so more money wouldn't do anything for me.

In the days where I've had to decide which bills to pay a fiver towards to try and keep utilities going another week, then yes, money would have absolutely bought me happiness because it was a lack of money making me unhappy.

It's a lot easier to feel happy when your immediate basic physiological needs are being met.

I've had no money, and I've had money.. And to be honest it makes no difference to my happiness, not worrying about bills is a bonus.. Buying nice things well obviously that's nice, but that's isn't happiness! Being comfortable is all I'm botherd about. You can be miserable with a lot of money and happy without.

What (enough) money buys you is security, security that you still have shelter and food for you and your loved ones tomorrow. If you have more than enough money you may even have some extra time with them and buy them nice things, which would make you and them happy. So money doesn't make you happy, but it helps to be less miserable and more secure

Money can bring happiness and comfort to a certain extent.

With money one can travel and visit families/friends living far away, do and buy a lot of things/gadgets that can entertain oneself or keep in touch with families/friends far away for examples.

Depends on how you spend it, as the value is in the spending.

I think having money helps some aspects of your life, not having to worry about putting food on the table or paying your rent that month would be such a sence of relief to many people who live hand to louth every month but that's not the same as making you happy, having a comfortable life and a happy life are not the same thing

Money buys you time to enjoy life. We moved from an expensive area to a cheap area so we could live mortgage free, we now only need to work 3 or 4 months per year. We're not materialistic, we don't need a fancy car, jewelry, designer clothes or shoes or the latest gadgets - time is our luxury.

It can bring choice.

Those choices in turn can lead to feeling less restricted and therefore happier. Choices can also bring frustration and confusion, which can lead to the opposite.

Security, yes, that does give relief and less stress which ultimately will likely impact how happy you are.

But, I have fuck all. Fuck. All.

I know that my friends love me for me, they're not sniffing round for what they can get off me. They're not lingering because I may be able to bail them out of a situation.

That security to me is priceless. That means the world to me.
