England Manager.....

Middlesbrough

Sticking my neck out a little here cos I'm not sure where this is going to go but the last 4 weeks of English Rugby haven't been great, I'm sure Eddie Jones will still have his job after this six nations campaign but I got to wondering that should the worst happen, who would be a suitable successor. Past, present or someone else.

If i had to go with it and he was available I'd go with Warren Gatland. He did great things with Wales and he has a ruthless aggressive style that suits the front row perfectly.

Thoughts?

But seriously, Gatland would be a good choice.

But my 7 year old nephew would be a better choice than Jones

The rfu can’t afford to get rid of Eddie otherwise he’d be gone.

I’ve always wanted to see dean richards given the job.

Unfortunately the things he did at quins have stayed with him and ‘blood gate’ probably means he’ll never be even considered.

He has worked magic at every single club he’s ever coached at and his reign at the tigers is second to no achievement any other English coach has ever done since in my opinion.

If you look at what he’s done at Newcastle with relatively unknown players it’s stand out.

Dean Richards would be an excellent choice, he's ready for the next level and English rugby would certainly benefit from him.

But sadly I have to agree that he probably will never even be considered.

Will you 2 give it a rest. These poor rugby players have a hard enough job without you and posh getting in there to give them "extra exercise"!!

On a serious note though. He hasn't become a bad manager overnight. I'd stick with him but maybe bring in a new defensive coach

I confess it'd be the Wales dressing room I'd be heading for.

Btw I'd never heard of Bloodgate, have just spent a fascinating half hour looking into it, so thanks! The problems with pro sport...

Yeahhhh, it's a pretty famous for all the wrong reasons event.

12 years on now and still talked about like it was yesterday.

Its tarnished a post event career of undisputed results and sadly due to the events surrounding it Dean Richards will never likely be considered for the England manager role should it ever become available again.

Your absolutely correct, he hasn't. He still has his ideas right, I don't understand why he changes what works though.

3 games running now we've had a glaring open space on the back row right and it's being exploited by everyone.

I agree. Hence why I think we need to look at the defensive coaching aspect. Jones is a winner and this is a blip.

Even so it's still tough to watch. If you look at the likes of Pep Guardiola,,, groundbreaking ideas and style,,,,, then,,,, for whatever reason they start to tinker
