Personally I enjoy the ‘issues’ threads, mainly because I think they get to the heart of the human condition far better than others, although the light threads have a place too. In my opinion, fab functions best as a connection between swinging and the ‘real world’, the forums are a microcosm of making small connections for current and future interactions. Without that possibility, it’s function is questionable, hence why the dynamics are different | |||

There are definitely those I miss seeing post, but likewise there are those I'm glad they don't post any more. I think that an awful lot of that angst is down to the current crisis. It’s the same on all aspects of SM; people are short tempered and reactionary, using the internet as a vent for frustrations. Once things open up and become more free, people will relax more and some of those who have left will probably return To a degree the current situation plays its part and is only natural that frustrations with it come out - but think the "changing of the guard" effect comes into play too, now again to a degree the two go hand in hand as there are a lot of people who have gone quiet, or quieter, this past year but at the same time it's other factors too I think - a lot of threads are more "issues" based which has firstly given the place a more Mumsnet vibe, and secondly "issues" threads usually give rise to contention and disagreement. Not saying there's anything wrong with "issues" based threads, they highlight some very important... errr issues - but they do change the look and feel somewhat too As you say, as things open up hopefully a more even balance will be restored " I do agree with the mumsnet vibe of late. | |||
