Can a person have a spell of anger that isn't directed at any person? Or, is another person always the root cause no matter how far down the line that person is in the chain of events that triggered the anger?

I lean towards the latter.

Nah.

Anger in terms of utter unprovoked irrational rage is a thing. Doesn't need another human being for that.

Anger is a secondary emotion, so it doesn't have to be caused by another person, it can be caused by yourself

Anger tends to stem from Fear or Hurt, so it doesn’t need to involve another in my mind.

I would be the person that caused the anger. A mistake that I had made

I know! She always kicks off at the kettle, so they now reside at different ends of the kitchen

So the anger comes from maybe the guilt n shame u feel, just throwing it out there

Or frustration! I wasn't hurt or afraid of my toaster. (Even though the kettle is...)

Yes of course. Life is stressful. People handle it in different ways....

Think about the person who is seething at something that happened during the day and then they meet with someone totally unrelated to the incident and rant at them ......

There are loads more examples.

If you are with an angry person , don't put up with it for too long as it's very unhealthy.

If it's a long term partner or friend they should try to identify the source of their frustration and learn some strategies for letting go ........

Very true at least 60% of the time I'm cross with myself. Its when you cant resolve the anger and turn it inward causes a problem

Depends what it is I am angry about. I might be angry that I fucked up. Made a silly mistake. I suppose that could also be laced with guilt or shame.

I am not actually angry at the moment. I read an article that triggered the thought.

No.

No matter what you did ....... it's THEIR anger , not yours.

It's their choice how to react.

Interesting concept, I’ve separated myself from my ego so I feel no anger anymore, I’m completely zen, apart from when I stub my toe then I lose my shit.

I get angry a more inanimate objects than people. Microwave door not opening? OPEN YOU PRICK. Toaster not working? WELL DONE DICKHEAD. BROWN IT NEXT TIME. Washing machine not spinning? YEAH I WANTED SOPPING WET CLOTHES YOU CUNT. Boss stacking the work up? Yeah sure mate, I’ll get that done. Anger for me is irrational and generally fleeting

My tuppence worth. Anger comes from frustration caused by people, things or events that you’re not in control of.

Anger is not always caused by environmental factors. It can be physical too

I have a heart condition, when it flares so does my temper, usually I'm pretty mild mannered and easy going.
