It's partly because of this site. There is a huge imbalance of men to women and so men will seek a large base of options compared to women. Also many men on here aren't actually straight and put that to increase there chances with women so logically it's worth asking if they're interested. If you're having issues you can set up a message filter

This is a good answer, if men contacting you is an issue then block them.

I have women proposition me now and again, but I often assume it's just a guy on a woman's profile. I just say sorry no thanks I'm straight straight not fab straight.
