He’s a twat, but he knows what he’s doing!

It’s tabloid tv, stir up arguments, create debate, even fury and anger. The gossip columns and tabloid press love it, ratings soar even as people are wound up and call him a c*nt! They tune in to see what car crash he’ll create. Ratings up = job done and no doubt a nice financial bonus.

He always has a finite shelf life then moves on. Now he’s left it won’t be long until the next lucrative offer - probably GB News

Oh, and watch GMB ratings start to recede again, he had it closing the gap on BBC Breakfast quite rapidly. Still a twat though!

you can do hard hitting journalism without bullying and belligerence. he is a bully akin to Jeremey Clarkson.

what ground breaking news did he actually get when he was 'questioning' MP's? none....he just talked over them with his air of self importance and didn't actually give them the opportunity to answer the questions he asked because he believed he knew everything.

the majority of people who support him act in the exact same way. their opinion is the only one that matters and they think the louder they shout it the more right it is.

i am glad i never watch ITV. between this, BGT, X Factor, i'm a celeb, love island etc it is fast becoming a trash tv channel.

Well I can't tell you where to get your actual news from as I have no idea what you are interested in or what biases you have or how you like to receive or search out your news content . For me personally I try and take in broadsheets of each side... Torygraph and grauniad... Ft for politics.. BBC for sport and tittle tattle... Sky and lbc for a different view.i Try to avoid anything Google throws at me but I know i do get suckered in grrrrr.

You make a good point... But we've walked into... (probably actually sprinted into) mob rule by twitter and insta and Google... There's not a decision taken now that isn't informed by what then populists want rather than what is right. Shut the baying mob up now is about as far as most of them look now. "what we should care about is mob rule, enough people say youre a witch then youre a witch... ironically i bet as many people would complain about meghan as piers!

You make a good point... But we've walked into... (probably actually sprinted into) mob rule by twitter and insta and Google... There's not a decision taken now that isn't informed by what then populists want rather than what is right. Shut the baying mob up now is about as far as most of them look now. There is no long term strategy permitted.

think australia might be the start of the fight back after facebook slapped them

That was glorious wasn't it? But suspect a tiny ripple in the ocean... Let's hope not.

i was amazed twitter banning trump didnt make people sit up, instead of cheer! what if they ban ghandi, the pope! lol the world determined by media owners.......

Well that's where we already are isn't it? Cancel culture, audience being told what to think and what not to think... Who to support, who to detest, editorialising facts to suit agendas... "

That sounds like a Trump/alt right manifesto.

I'm interested to understand why you think the mob power enabled by the media has any particular political flavour? It is working all sides... And not really making our world a better place for it. I have no axe to grind either way but don't like who shouts loudest deciding what we can see / hear / do.

Because the people who most often become inflamed by 'cancel culture' etc are usually people associated with the right wing of politics.

Sorry, thought this was going to be one of those attention seeking 'After 20 years on FAB, I'm off' posts hoping that their many friends respond with 'Please don't go/Won't be the same without you' type messages.

Turns out it was just about some barely acknowledged Television and media wannabe with a bit of an aggressive attitude

He censored himself. He walked out as soon as someone treated him the way he treated others. Seems he only cares about freedom of speech when it's him who is doing all of the talking.

I wasn't aware of that. What's the evidence to suggest that? I mean I'd have thought its an issue for everyone not just one particular political leaning.

Rather like air quality and well.... Covid... It affects everyone does it not?

Bedford

He's paid his mortgage, he doesn't care.

If he was just starting out on the job would he be so petulant?

Looked like a pricked conscience and using his passion for the Queen to cover his anger at being called out.

Turns out he's a bigger drama Queen than Rupaul. I thought he was Mr Macho man.

Susannah Reid's probably jumping for joy.

He should get back in the chair and do his job.
