Worrying about fab members.

Maybe it’s just me .... I’m not a stalker or anything

If you had a fab friend that you spoke to on a regular basis and they just stopped logging in and hadnt been on line for days would you worry.

Or would you think they are just getting on with non fab life ?

With the current climate I think I’m become more of a worrier.

I guess I would depend how close we were, I think I would be a bit concerned though.

We put pretty much the same thread out the other day. What we did was ring him. Obviously not any good if you havnt got their number

I suppose concerned would be the better word

Last I heard of him was mid week last week by phone to say that he was having his COVId jab.

I messaged him on fab no reply just asking how it went. Also sent a text nothing.

I don’t want to seem to be a stalker but we normally chat daily.

Let’s hope he just needs some time out and busy with work etc.

Sure he will contact me if or when he wants too.

There are some where I would and do notice and I hope they're ok but also know that they have their own lives too so may just be getting on with that.

It depends on how they were before they went quiet as to whether I would worry or not though and may drop them a message just to say hi if I have ways of contacting them away from fab.

If the person is an actual friend then I would be concerned, however I would have the number for anyone beyond just a casual chat or acquaintance, so I’d go direct to them that way.

People don’t long on for multiple reasons, very few of those are bad

.

We are pretty close in my regular fab chatroom, so if a regular chatter goes AWOL for a week or 2 we usually ask around and get someone to check on how they are doing.

I had a friend on here who I spoke to loads and then she disappeared, she got back in touch yesterday after more than 4 months and I am so glad she is ok, she has been through hell but is ok now

So it is good to worry about people and I know it sounds strange when it is someone on here

Yes I do worry and I do check on people, but if you did it in the past and they always reassured you that they were OK and its not needed, then I wouldn't pester in the future... So it really depends on a person and their pattern of behaviour on here.

If I have been chatting to someone else for a while and they disappear for a while I will pop them message here or on another platform. And last time o took a break from here a person reached out to check on me. We spoke for over an hour on the phone and it was just what I needed. So don't be afraid to reach out if they are a friend they will be thankful of the gesture.

If i had never met them face to face then i would not worry. People come and go on here all the time. There is only a couple of men i know well who i would be concerned about and also my close fab female friend.

There and to the left a bit

I think it can vary from person to person and obviously depend on the dynamic - some people I know come and go for extended periods regularly, others are more permanent fixtures.

I guess all you can do V is make a judgement call based on how well you know the person and the dynamic between you - in all likelihood "life" happened and it's nothing and they'll be back in touch when they're ready.

Is only natural to worry though, despite the perceived ethos of the site, particularly if a regular pattern has been broken - maybe give it a couple more days and give them a call if you feel you know them well enough.

Just read what you said above about being in contact every day.

If it's voice by phone or even a text then i'd get in touch.

It could be that he's lost his phone or has no money for calls / texts who knows.

I leave them to it generally. I might send one message asking if ok if they’ve expressed being down or something, but if not then I leave them to it. I’m a bit cold like that though.

They know where I am if they need me is my way of thinking.

A difficult one, I chatted daily with someone since I joined not met as other end of the country, then he wasn't on for a few days and came back saying a family member had covid and was in hospital so he would pop on when he could but not as often, he's not been back online and yeah, I kinda worry as to what's happened but as you say, not in a stalker way. Hopefully all is OK but... Joys of Internet friendships I guess.

I have very few people I would worry about, and I probably wouldnt worry if they didn't log in here for a while (sometimes you just want a break).

If messages off the site weren't getting any response I'd probably send a "tell me you're ok and I'll stop worrying and leave you be" type message just to make sure.

I would never be offended by someone else's concern for me either.

Honestly though, I can count on one hand the people I'm close enough to and chat to often enough for unanswered messages to cause concern (and I'd still have fingers left over).

I do worry about some folks here

Then I question myself about contacting them

I feel like I am imposing my friendship & concern onto them

Would they appreciate that?

Would they contact me if there was really something wrong or they needed an ear?

I'm having that concern at the moment.

Can't help thinking he had an accident or he or a family member is very ill.

Hopefully he's just broken his phone.

Anyone that I would be that close enough to worry about I wouldnt be talking to on Fab really.

I normally use Watsapp for talking to friends I have made on here.

I wouldn’t normally worry but my last conversation with him was he was going to message me on Friday.

Anyway. I’ve had a text today to say all ok. His phone was drying out after getting a soaking.
