You are not everyone's cup of tea.

Some will like you, some will hate you, some will tolerate you, and some will ignore you, but some will fiercely love you.

And that is absolutely fine. Spend time with those who like/love you and forget about the others.

We have had friends who have been close but then circumstances have changed and we've lost the friendship, but we are also very fortunate in that we have a circle of friends who love us and support us, and we have been best friends for many, many years, and that will never change.

Do you have many true friends? Do you have lifelong friends or does your circle change with time and circumstances?

This year has shown who true friends are to me and who I should be focusing energy on. Some people I thought were very good friends I never hear from unless it's me making first contact.... Always.

Others risk travel restrictions to bring me Socially distanced flowers to say congrats on my new job YKWYA x

I had a quote sent to me so I can’t claim this as my own.

Be like a dog , if you can’t eat it or hump it, piss in it and walk away.

I can love a friend and relish that type of friendship. I want friends in my life as much as I want experiences. My life is to be enjoyed and to do that alone doesn’t thrill me.

But those that I don’t get along with, I hold no bad feelings. We just will never be as close as I am with those I want to know more about and share things with.

*i just typed it out, I read it back and it makes sense to me.

I'm fortunate to have a couple of lifelong friends that I've met at different stages of my life.

Some you just know will always be there, and some who have stood the test of time.

There are people who come and go, and I've found in life that it's important to recognise the difference between them and the keepers.

100%. It can be extremely hurtful when someone who you thought was a good friend turns out not to be. I've been there. But it's them who is loosing out on having a loyal and true friend.

This is so true

You find out who your real friends are at your lowest points in life, when you need help even if you don't ask for it. They are there for you.

Have around 4. 3 males all I worked with at my last but one job and a lady again, from the last but one job.

My current job, I think I will end up with several good friends. One lady in particular. Who is as nutty as me.

She gets that I'm a 'wind up merchant,' and gives it back as well, which I like.

Totally agree. I have one maybe two friends who I would consider "proper" friends. Everyone else is an acquaintance and someone I'm allowing to come along for the ride.

In my opinion, the smaller the circle the better. There's no drama and no messing about.

I'm too nice and it's taken a lot to cut out all the fake people but I'm glad it's done and I feel so much better for it.

We have friends on so many levels as well as colleagues, acquaintances and associates. We have childhood friends, school/uni friends, kids social circle friends, work friends but only a very tight circle of close friends. It’s part of the reason we wanted to explore swinging to get a new circle of friends exploring things and doing things that we wanted in a free, easy and relaxed way that conventional society and especially our ‘friends’ wouldn’t understand or accept and would be frowned upon unfortunately.

We don't have drama either, don't have time or patience for it. We've noticed that fake friends tend to bring drama whereas true friends don't.

I'm blessed with my circle, it's small but its unconditional support n love that I get iff them, in return the same from me..

What I've found is we outgrow ppl and they out grow us,,and that's ok

True friends I have 4 the youngest friendship is about 18 years old. All these people live far away from me now, but they are who I turn to and embrace me for being me. I love them all very dearly, just thinking of them makes me all cwtchy

I have 5 inner circle friends who I consider as family who love me and I love them no matter what.

Add to that maybe 100's of acquaintances who drift in and out like the tide, I am pretty social and tend to make friend acquaintances very easily

My 1 bestest friend has been in my life for 30 odd years. I couldn't imagine my life without him in it. We've laughed, we've cried and done so many things together. The only man apart from my dad that I love with all my heart and trust with my life.

I’m fortunate enough to have a good social circle of some really nice friends, some of them long term friends. We all respect and value one another’s friendship, more so during lockdown.

It’s very different to the virtual friendships here which wax and wain .....
