"Type 2 and yes I’m gutted " If your diet and exercise is already good, am guessing medication would most likely be an option but I’m not a doctor. I wonder if strength training and increasing the amount of muscle you have may help? Just a thought. I have a family history of diabetes in all the men so I guess I will get there one day.

"Life is unkind. Hopefully you have family members who can help and guide you. Being diabetic is not all doom and gloom if under control.x" Very true! It’s never stopped any of the men in my family from living their lives. Once you learn how yo control it for you, you’ll be mostly way to living with it. That initial learning / fine tuning food, exercise and meds always seems the hardest bit. Best wishes to you.

"Looks that way I’ve been told to cut out bread pasta rice potatoes etc it’s all I eat lol " You can have bread & pasta & rice, just in moderation and the wholemeal version Spuds are strange, cos you can have boiled, but it is recommended you stay away from mash & jackets It's to do with their composition and how it releases sugars Same with fruit - most fruits ok, smoothies, not so much

"Type 2 and yes I’m gutted Very few reverse it Learn to live with it and adapt I assume yours will be diet controlled for now? " It is reversible, if you follow the directions on your diet sheet, and go for regular check ups

"Thats really interesting - do you mind if i ask how they have cited type 2 as genetic? Did they suggest you have inherited it somewhow? Everything i have read tends to portray a general message that Type 2 is lifestyle driven and also a recent modern thing? " That is the media for you ... which loosely speaking is correct, for many it is about lifestyle, exercise weight etc, hence why it is perceived as ‘modern disease’ but it is well known - but not often highlighted that genetics does have a part to play here for some. They are already healthy, slim and exercising ... all the good stuff we are supposed to do - but there is a familial history of it - just VERY unfortunate! R x
