One person's opinion is just as valid as... No! Some people's opinions are just delusional!

When opinions conflict with actual verifiable reality, they cease to be opinions and become at best misinformation. We now get voices though shouting that every person is allowed their opinion, that all opinions are valid. But if an opinion is observably false, and may cause harm to both the one voicing the opinion and others, surely we should not be listening, but instead treating it as a symptom of a mental illness?

Opinions please!

But on a serious note - if you are referring to the opinions on an Internet forum them I would take everything with a pinch of salt.

People are rarely who they project themselves to be.

In general I’d say all are valid, but not always constructive, there’s normally some underlying fear or issue with extreme opinions. If you discount all the opinions of the mentally unwell, you’d have a very limited set of views!

I'm thinking more of the widespread delusions that seem to be taking hold of huge numbers of people, and leading to real world consequences. But those of us who can see these harmful views as actually conflicting with physical evidence are supposed to just shut up because "everyone is allowed an opinion". What do we do then when these "opinions" cause hatred, loss of livelihoods, crime, poverty, economic cost, death, war?

Ignore the uppers comments Polly. Of course not all opinions are the same...... nor are a lot of them valid.

If I had a pound for every time an uneducated arsehole retorted with '....... that's my opinion and it's worth just as much as anyone elses' ... I'd be a fucking millionaire.

Our 'opinions' on ice-creams are simple preferences which I'd never contest.

Our 'opinions' on important matters need to be strongly based on Science.

They need to have foundations in TRUTH and I do get really concerned for the future when the populace don't seem to understand that even 'truth' is testable.

People can put pretty much anything out there, without a great deal of regulation

This is also an issue in main stream media where for the sake of "balance" they have to get an opposing point of view from some whack job think tank. So you have the view of say an eminent scientist in their field who has been researching the subject for decades and to balance it you have Auntie Doris who has spent the afternoon reading some facebook posts yet both are given equal weight.

If I was presented with an opinion that I thought had no basis I would ask the person presenting it to substantiate it. If they could I would acknowledge it, but not necessarily agree with it.

If not , I’d tell them to stop talking out their arse.

Control what you can, which is to choose who’s opinions matter and who’s you are willing to hear. This group of people should be minimum

It depends what you mean by valid.

You can think whatever you want. You can hold any opinion you want.

That does not mean you can DO whatever you want. You are free to be wrong, but you are not free to be irresponsible.

If you express an opinion, you are not free from the consequences of that expression. People may agree with you, argue with you, ridicule you, and in some cases put you in prison.

An opinion that is wrong is in my opinion invalid. How you express it may or may not be valid. Asking whether something is correct is one thing, stating as fact a serious misunderstanding is not.
