There are tests you can buy that work in 15 minutes. If clubs were to get them in and test people at the door, wouldn't they be able to open again? Obviously the place would have to be cleaned thoroughly beforehand, but it could be done. It would only cost the patrons an extra £30 to enter which for a night out isn't really that much.

I want clubs back open as soon as it's safe to do so and while people keep breaking the rules that wont happen

That's what I was responding to. The OP was trying to find loopholes to get them open, my point was people are flawed, that's why half of the places that are closed are closed. It's for a reason and by trying to bypass it and find ways to get them open before they're "ready" will only create more issues.

Nobody has said social distancing is a guarantee you won't catch anything, it's one of a number of mitigating factors that lower your risk. Another one is not meeting folk for a quick shag. I like my covid-19 risks like I like my necklines - low, low, low

I've been tempted to put a status on loosely aimed at all the people local to me who are still meeting but I guess it would end in abusive messages these are all women by the way as that's what my search category shows, so it's not just men doing it. Either way they're idiots and their attitude is part of the wider reason this has gone on as long as it has.

These test are, probably, what’s known as the lateral flow tests. They are not as reliable as the PCR test (which is the gold standard) and that are used when you go through the gov website to get a Covid test. That is why you need to take two of them a couple of days apart (two negative results suggest a lower chance of having the virus). In fact, some of the school are doing three. It’s not really that practical to do three tests for a club days apart and a single test gives limited peace of mind. Add to that the cost and I’m not sure many people would want to go to a club after all that faff. There will also be those that don’t care about testing and that they will be OK if they catch the virus, but then these people forget that they could have an unknown underlying medical condition that makes them vulnerable. Not really worth taking the risk to get your end away. As they say, you don’t know what you don’t know ...
