"There are tests you can buy that work in 15 minutes. If clubs were to get them in and test people at the door, wouldn't they be able to open again? Obviously the place would have to be cleaned thoroughly beforehand, but it could be done. It would only cost the patrons an extra £30 to enter which for a night out isn't really that much." That’s not the point though is it? It’s illegal for a reason. Nobody needs a shag that badly. First world problems and all that.

Restaurants could do the same, would only cost a family of 6 £90 on top of the cost of their meal for a night out so not that bad, especially when they've likely had fuck all income this past year. People take the piss. People have proved they can't be trusted. As much as I can see your logic, loopholes would be tried and tested, safety would be risked. What about all those people in the queue talking to each other coz they're sure nobody would go if they were infected. 15 mins later, well, sorry folks, everyone here has now been exposed whilst in the queue coz some cunt just came back positive.

Wouldn't the people queuing up be social distancing while they waited, that's a guarantee they won't catch anything according to the government lol

No. People are flawed. That's why the law exists.

Because they're essential. Flawed because humans enter them but essential nonetheless. Also the reason I've been to the supermarket twice in 12 months.

"everyone here has now been exposed whilst in the queue coz some cunt just came back positive. Is this how you would describe front line NHS staff who catch the virus at work ?" Of course not, unless they were queuing to get into a sex club before the rules had changed and were breaking the law.

"Why would a "sex club" be open illegally ?" That's what I was responding to. The OP was trying to find loopholes to get them open, my point was people are flawed, that's why half of the places that are closed are closed. It's for a reason and by trying to bypass it and find ways to get them open before they're "ready" will only create more issues.

"Wouldn't the people queuing up be social distancing while they waited, that's a guarantee they won't catch anything according to the government lol" Nobody has said social distancing is a guarantee you won't catch anything, it's one of a number of mitigating factors that lower your risk. Another one is not meeting folk for a quick shag. I like my covid-19 risks like I like my necklines - low, low, low ![]()

I've heard about a club being a little sly and advertising their on site rooms on air bnb to get around the law then turning a blind eye once the people are inside.

Obviously the place would have to be cleaned thoroughly beforehand, but it could be done. It would only cost the patrons an extra £30 to enter which for a night out isn't really that much." These test are, probably, what’s known as the lateral flow tests. They are not as reliable as the PCR test (which is the gold standard) and that are used when you go through the gov website to get a Covid test. That is why you need to take two of them a couple of days apart (two negative results suggest a lower chance of having the virus). In fact, some of the school are doing three. It’s not really that practical to do three tests for a club days apart and a single test gives limited peace of mind. Add to that the cost and I’m not sure many people would want to go to a club after all that faff. There will also be those that don’t care about testing and that they will be OK if they catch the virus, but then these people forget that they could have an unknown underlying medical condition that makes them vulnerable. Not really worth taking the risk to get your end away. As they say, you don’t know what you don’t know ...
