Animal lovers question. Please answer this.

As a animal lover! I am seeing something that is really bothering me on social media.

I am seeing many cats and dogs being picked up and taken to the vets or the persons house that found them.

People say the animal looks lost and of course if they are hurt take them to the vets straight away.

But how do you know its lost? And are you causing more stress to the animal and owner by taking it from where it is?

I know everyone has all good intention and want to help out.

But would you all please debate this and lets see what we think about it.

Well dogs normally running around know their own would point to it being lost. Cats is different.. but most people wouldn't leave what they thought might be a injured or lost animal cause we all love them... best intentions surely.

Its human nature ( for most) to come to the aid of a lost or injured animal .

Its just human nature but I do understand what you mean as well

I currently have a cat that visits my garden and is often found sleeping between my hot tub and the house wall especially when it's really cold.. Personally I think he's a stray as he steals my own cats catfood if the door is left open.. This last week I've seen him limping to the extreme he can't put weight on his leg..i tryed to coax him with food but I just get hissed at..so are you saying I should just leave him be??

The best thing to do with a possible stray cat is to put a paper collar on it, maybe with a message that the owner can respond to. My cat wanders a lot but he is definitely not unwanted

As I have said above if a animal is injured then take them to the Vets. 3rd paragraph down!!!

This is about animals looking lost when its perfectly walking around not hurt! I don't know how. I can word it easier.

So of course if you can catch him. take him to the Vet and you deserve a big thank you for that. But the thread is not about injured animals.

If I could get near to pick him up I'd very happily take him to the vets.. He's very antisocial and you can't get near him..

Now that is something to think about wonder what others will think of that.

Aren’t most owned cats microchipped? So if they are taken to the vets they can be scanned to see who they belong to. Ours also have collars but they can be broken so microchipping your pets is a good way of helping people know they have a home. I know it emboldens actually taking them to a vet but the extra effort can help reunite humans with their furry friends.

My little cat turned up in our garden with three tiny kittens. We fed her and subsequently the kittens when they were weaned. Messages put on local Facebook, posters round the villages, no one came forward for her. We rehomed the kittens and she chose me for her mummy! I took her to the vets to have her checked over, spayed and microchipped. She's a joy to have
