If our only interaction was hi and bye, like someone you see on the way to work or something, I’d probably find it a bit weird.

It really depends on the man and the context for me, as to whether I’d find it nice or creepy. And that’s not just about his looks.

If it was a stranger that saw me most days it would peak my interest and start a conversation.

If it was a work colleague... well there's a couple that I know are interested and I've made it fairly clear that I'm not... so it would be weird.

If it was the one guy that I fancy at work -and he knows I do then I'd be chuffed.

I gave M a cactus for our first valentine's because he's a prick

If you can't have a laugh with your other half where's the fun? But to answer your OP I'd personally find it a bit awkward, but I'm an awkward person with public displays of affection

"He doesn’t mean give you flowers every day, he means someone you see everyday gives you flowers. Jeez.

I'm pretty smart and I read it as flowers every day. Now I reread it I can see it may mean just one set of flowers.

Which is a bit cheap actually.

Haha I love this, perhaps you can suggest something better ??

Can you give a bit more context how you meet this person? Just at work? At the school gates? Do you, er, talk to them?

I'd be thinking talking first

I see her on my way to work, she lives on top of my road, usually we never said hello or exchanged any type of acknowledgement, now a smile, and hi bye type of thing. I see her when she finishes work also, which is like 3 to 5 times a week."

Yeah, no. Now is not the appropriate time for flowers, you’ll most likely weird her out. I did say in my earlier reply that it would be weird in this scenario, but I guess that wasn’t what you wanted to hear. Try talking to her first, don’t just spring flowers on her out of the blue. And don’t just have one brief conversation and then go in with flowers, either - see whether she seems interested in talking to you, if she looks happy to see you, that sort of thing. If she seems to be just being polite, or always wants to cut it short, or anything like that - leave it.

"I know I'm a bit weird with stuff like this, but honestly, I'd rather he just said something. I'd find flowers a bit cringe if they were a complete surprise."

I agree - better to say “We should go for a coffee when it’s allowed” and wait for the reaction.

Just seen that you live on the same road - def do not give flowers as if she is just being polite she may think you are going to stalk her.

If you’re both single and you’re interested in her I think it’s perfectly acceptable and quite sweet to send her some flowers. This would have been a perfectly normal way of expressing interest before the days of internet dating. Maybe I’m just old.

Best response, and I definitely like this one

I guess those days of expressing that someone is interested in you have gone far far away and ideas like this are considered awkward and put me on the spot how will I live type !

I was offered flowers once. It was very uncomfortable for me because I then had to explain to this guy who I barely knew that while it was a nice gesture - I had a boyfriend and so I wasn't interested. He didn't take it very well and it was just awkward all around.

If I saw a fella every day and had the odd conversation exchanged with him and he brought me flowers one day, I'd accept gracefully - but then I'm single - I might feel slightly differently if I were in an LTR.

When can I send you flowers

Well obviously I understand your point, but like why do people feel uncomfortable and why is it awkward ? Have most people lost the art of being confident and say omg thank you, its so nice, or have the guys absolutely gone up and beyond to make women think its a psychopath act to do if they get told no ? I mean,ci been rejected before I smiled and said thank you for your time and walked 9ff smiling knowing I tried and I told her how I felt."

Some people don't like being approached by strangers full stop.

But if we never approached strangers we’d all be alone wouldn’t we? Everyone is a stranger until you meet/speak to them.

I know that, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I am the person who randomly helps you with your shopping, picks you up at a bus stop in the cold or rain.

Some people don't like it though.

OK, you would - but many men do not take rejection well and it makes us wary.

Good point but to be fair, I did say I "might" feel slightly differently..... I'd still confidently say thank you/indicate my appreciation for the thoughtful gesture

Its all a real man needs, that smile and to say thank you for thinking of me its all nothing beyond that rest depends on the person I guess.

If we had conversed then yes..I'd accept the flowers for the gesture that it was.

But if no convo it would be a bit much for me.

I love flowers but I think it would be very wasteful giving me a new bunch every single day.

Maybe buy a bouquet and give me one flower a day and then I'll have a beautiful floral arrangement by the end of the month.

Yes I’m like that too - but I think the fact they both live in the same road makes it a bit too close for comfort unless she has shown she is interested.
