What is the point of this? What do you put in it when messaging someone? So formal and off putting. How much emphasis do you ladies put on this when receiving a message?

I put my name.

This way they are in no doubt as to what I’m trying to draw their attention to.

Try it!

No emphasis on the subject header at all, for me (from people I don't know). I just see if there's a face pic attached, if none on the profile.

I don't think I read it, to be honest.

Pick a word from their profile to emphasize you have read it.

For example with mine, your header could be...regular... friendship....fwb

It always throws me when people write the first few lines of their message in the subject, and then at first glance the message doesn't really make sense.

...or is that just me? I should really read the Subject header but I just don't

To be honest I've never really noticed the 'subject' heading for messages but, having just gone & checked our inbox, the vast majority seem to be a totally uninspiring "hi/hey/hello", that may be why I don't really register them.

I find I get a lot of one word, non sensical messages so I'm scratching.

I have to go back and re read the subject and they've started half typing the message in there.

Usually I don't bother checking it, if the message makes sense

Honestly, the subject lines I receive are just the title of the forum thread I've posted to

That was the first message I received from Jim’s mum.

Something interesting stands out and is more memorable.

A sea of 'Hi' messages is just depressing.

Manchester (she/her)

It's a snapshot of what the message will be. It's not desperately important, but creativity helps

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Honestly I often don't notice.

Although "use me as a human toilet" I always find delightful

I struggle with a title. Too long and it can make me look boring but Hi is just lame.

I might just start adding random one word titles in like -

Pickle

Clam

Window

If I put your name won’t it just be more confusing?

Don't you get drawn to a movie title or heading in a newspaper? It does matter a little I think. Especially in the ocean of others.

Ha ha or the ‘are you on the pill’ is another delightful one.

It’s a good way to figure out which messages to delete immediately with no further reading required.

Maybe he was just trying to make sure you were being safe
