Jump to newest

Well we will be unlocked in a few months properly.

We have all probably pack on a few extra pounds.

So I am going to start 10,000 steps a day in March, excluding steps at work.

Whos up for it ?

Post ya progress

What a great idea; hope theres a big uptake to this and with the evenings drawing out gives a good oppurtunity to do this.

"10,000 a day

It sounds a lot however if you break it up into, say, two 45 minute walks per day, you will smash it.

It works out at roughly 5 miles (height/stride etc) and should take under 1.5hrs?

I average between 10-22,000 steps a day already depending how busy work is.

But I do think it’s a great idea and also gives some people something to focus on which ultimately may make them feel better due to the feel good endorphins

Somewhere near here

I do way over 10,000 steps a day, often closer to 20,000 if not more. Just keep moving, go for walks

Yes definitely, I'm in.

If anyone is unable to get out, YouTube has some step workout routines. 5000 steps, 10,000 steps etc.

Whenever you take a step, pop out a little turd. And then at the end of the day follow your trail and count them.

It isn't rocket science.

Glad there is so much positivity to this.

Just download Strava app and will use this from tomorrow and post how I go.

Probably do it it 2 for me, long dog walk about 7am and a bit of time on the exercise bike.

Got a bike of a pal who got it for same reason pre covid but never used it.

Come on everyone, let's try. It makes no difference if you manage 5000 or 10000, let's just try and do something different and break the monotomy of being stuck at home 24/7.

Good luck to everyone

It’s hard when you’re not on holiday. Today I’ve been on two separate walks with friends and just been for a run and still only made 8,500. On holiday I average 17,500 per day , M-F when At work only 3000-6000 before I had a standing desk much less

I might try and walk once a day before work. I have never felt so unhealthy in my life

There and to the left a bit

Having had a shock at the end of Jan when I stepped on the scales - I've been walking at least an hour every day, and a brisk walk at that - and average around 8000 steps a day with work and it not staying light just yet I'd struggle to make 10000 currently but a combination of those 8000 steps and a daily 10 minute exercise via a fat to fit app and I've lost 10lbs in that time and also feel so much better for it.

My watch has a step counter, but any of the apps available will work - Google Fit is one, there are others.

I did four steps short of 10000 steps the other day and it says that was 7.7km

I usually average 15000 a day but today I've done 5000

I've sat on my massive arse most of the day - only doing housework and a quick bike ride to the supermarket.

I need to shift this weight before the world opens again

Had a look at my Garmin Connect account.

It seems I'm walking around 30 miles a week at work, & that's on top of my cycle commute & any turbo training/bike rides I do.

No wonder I'm always tired!

I put a step app on my phone. Aimed for 7000 steps a day. The dogs get walked twice each day for 3/4 hour and hour each time. I usually get around 8000 steps (and really feel it in my noggin if I dont do the walks). Not losing any weight or anything though. Enjoy March, well what's left of it xx

Its great to hear all the successes.

Getting out for a walk is about the only thing keeping everything together, the fresh air and movement is a great tonic.

So far so good, it will be great to for everyone to report their average at the end of the month.

Have just found a setting on my fitness app that shows steps/distance by year and the difference between 2020 and 2021 is quite staggering - it only counts sustained walks of about 10 mins or more...

The whole of 2020 I walked 136km over a 43 hour period.

So far in 2021 I've walked 275km over a 55 hour period

No wonder I piled the pounds on last year
