The best meal i ever had was at the Portland Street Social club.. I had the tasting menu (vegan) and my taste spuds were completely alive

However I've had much more special moments like eating a bag of chips on the beach with a bf.. Sharing a bag of freshly fried donuts with my mum on the pier.. Sharing bang bang cauliflower with my DD...

Food creates so many amazing memories, I'd love to be a chef

Sometimes, it's the most simple food items that are the best!

Back in 1988, I'd been taken ill with eyesight issues & went to my local A&E in London, then transferred to Moorfields Eye hospital, admitted, & put on "No food" as I faced surgery immediately in morning.

Surgery was delayed, then I was in Theatre for 6 hours. By the time I was allowed to eat, 26 hours after my last food, a simple ham sandwich and an orange juice tasted soooooo good!

Flemish stew with French fries and apple sauce in a restaurant in Bruges. We were cold and wet, and it was beautiful.

I've been fortunate to travel a lot with work and eaten out a lot.

Couple of stand out restaurants

Summer Pavillion in Singapore

Doors Freestyle Grill Dubai

The best food I've ever eaten however is in Vietnam, onsite the vietnamese workers would bring in home cooked food on Fridays, was unreal.

Bag of chips on holiday with my family as a child. Tasted like proper chippy chips on a cold night with salt n vinegar.

Nana's roast lamb dinners

Restaurant on Beach barbados..steak was devine.

So guess it depends who where and why that means more than food

A beach restaurant in South Africa. The fisherman bring the catch in and you sit while it's cooked in front of you. No menu as such because it's whatever they catch. Shellfish starters and beer you bring with you.

I am regular at Moorfields and had the pleasure to have a number of overnight stays after surgery there. Nothing beats the feeling of looking at the teacup when you go for breakfast and see a clear picture

The Old Vicarage at Ridgeway Sheffield and Winteringham Fields near Scunthorpe. I went with a fellow Fabber. Both an amazing experience and have Michelin stars I think.

It's all about the company and location

Fish n chips for example on the beach with the right person can be better than any 5 star restaurant imo.

But at that time, I was at their Annexe Hospital at the top of Shaftesbury Ave, NOT the main hospital in East London. All food came in from the Main unit & was heated up. So, it was a Ham S/wich & OJ which was all they could rustle up for me. It could've been Caviar & champagne for all I cared.

I had a total of 5 operations across 6 months there, spending over 18 hours in Theatre.

There and to the left a bit

As others have said it's not necessarily the meal but the memories created with it that stand out

Have been lucky enough to eat in some lovely restaurants both with work and otherwise down the years and sampled so fantastic food as a result

If I had to choose just one dish though it would be a big platter of seafood, served with dips and crusty bread overlooking the sea...can't be beaten for me
