Here comes the hayfever

Thought I was just full of cold but the tell tale itchy mouth and watery eyes have started this morning.

Every year I kind of forget that it starts this early. I love the Spring but the tree pollen gets me every time.

Katie.

Eurgh yeah. I hate it. Makes me feel all scruffy.

One good thing is my cat is old and blind so doesn't go out now to bring it in on her fur.

Weed pollen gets me later in the year. I hugely envy people without hay fever.

My eyes are itching too and they'll go on to itch until december. I get a 2 month respite! So unfair!

Starting treatment as soon as you feel it starting will help. A once daily antihistamine

Once daily Antihistamines, twice a day, eyedrops all day, and wearing an N95 Facemask whenever it gets to bad during the day.

The mask is the best. Instant and total relief!

I struggle to find ones that work effectively. Even the non drowsy ones have knocked me out in the past. I try a couple of different ones every year, so any recommendations welcome.

If you go into any pharmacy they will recommend according to your symptoms and your personal experience of those that haven’t worked for you so far.

I used to have 3 monthly injections when mine was at it worst.

Yes, mine's been going since Monday when the spring weather arrived. It's the same every year. People are surprised it comes this early. I guess it's a reaction to particular types of pollen. Luke

I'm allergic to grass pollen which is bad enough but if you're allergic to both that must be terrible. I feel your pain.

Worthing

Dab small amount of vaseline around nostrils. My Mum swears by that.

"Dab small amount of vaseline around nostrils. My Mum swears by that."

At night I put Vaseline on my eyelashes and around my nostrils (when I remember). It does help a little and means I can do my morning make up without watery eyes.

The sneezing and itchy mouth soon starts though. I'll just have to get myself to the chemist yet again and make my way through their range of antihistamines.

In SA where I grew up never suffered from hayfever at all.

But ever since I came to the uk, in my 20's I get it really, really bad. Tree, oil seed, and grass pollen.

couple, us we him her.

I got lambasted last year for suggesting that people may confuse the initial symptoms of covid with hayfever and vice versa.

A year on and I'm certain that there's going to be plenty of false alarms this time round and people assuming hayfever and it's covid.

As many don't get high temperature straight away some not at all.

Haha easier said than done when you're in the middle of dispensing someone on the shop floor and can't take it off

Yes, quite possible that may happen. I'm tested twice weekly, so I know mine is a bit of hayfever though.
