For those who enjoy camping/caravanning, just got back from Callow Top in Ashbourne. Very nice facilities, large bar, 3 pool tables, beer garden, pool, kiddie play area, good fishing lake (saw 4 poles snapped by carp). Very large tent pitches, 6 berth tent, 12"x12" gazebo and plenty of space to park two cars and a trailer and room for a bbq. On the Tissington trail for those who like to walk, Alton Towers is only 15 minutes away. Kids loved it and the fishing was excellent.

Lovely part of the country. We use Newhaven which is close to the one you mention.

Hmmm, it is quite expensive even at low season, and I can stay for cheaper nightly rate at the C&CC Star Club site.

Not one for me, however, it looks good for families.

I hope it's not the "Little Bodeve" camp site, it's a bloody tip! the website is a total lie, owners should be prosecuted for false advertising.

Having a modern, high spec caravan, I only need the minimum of facilities, so why pay for stuff I'll never use?

But if you are using a "modern, high spec caravan" don't you need a fully serviced pitch to get the most from it? I know we do!I would imagine that is hard if not impossible to find one on a CL!

Bugger all that mucking about filling the water tank up when I can just connect to mains, same with waste! And we would much rather use the site toilets than have to empty the cassette whilst away! but perhaps we are just snobs when in the modern, high spec caravan..

We live camping too, and for short visits, we normally use a site in the backwaters and get a little more back to nature.. (in more ways than one! )

We love camping, are at the moment in our campervan in Italy. We used to have a tent, and when we met another swinging couple two of us had to sit outside while the other two fucked inside. Try the partners camping and caravanning club, see google, we have had many fun meets with them.

Yeah Swiss Tony was brilliant.

A motorhome would be great but our tent is so much more spacious.

Flexibility and imagination is the name of the game!!

For years I used a particular site simply because it had super pitches, but when the cost went up to £17 a night, out of season, I moved to a CL charging £8 all year round. So I have to fill the water bottle, empty the waste, big deal, it saves me a small fortune though! I'm now using another CL in the same area, £10 a night all year round for a serviced pitch!!!

If you have a modern caravan with 'all mod cons', and choose to use the site toilets etc, that's your choice, personally, I prefer my own 'home' comforts!!
