Back in my younger days yes

Come over do the deeds say they leave a verification when home nother messaged a couple off days later read delete

Message me again in a months time asking if I was free

Made me feel used and like I was a dirty little secret and I was only a hole for him to get his end away on

Yep happened me twice in past couple months.

One is someone met, we had fun, been messaging throughout lockdown then radio silence. Messaged a few times on here, even texted. Messages read but not replied then out the blue she's gone, profile either hidden or closed and number is blocked.

Other is similar though we not met. Arranged a meet though I had to cancel as had symptoms so isolated. Ever since we chatted but every time I ask about rearranging meet get no answer.

Bit despondent.

I think anyone who is experience in Internet dating as well as fab has come across this. It can be annoying, frustrating and/or a dam right let down. Especially when you have invested time and got your hopes up. I think anyone with any experience of the online dating or hook up game knows its the nature of the beast sadly. Disappointing but you just have to grow a thicker skin and hopefully get a better feel for avoiding the flaky ones in the future.

Depends how you define ghosting - if you mean cessation of all contact by one side without explanation, then no hasn't happened to me - if you mean a connection has naturally fizzled over time with neither person necessarily taking that step then yes it's happened

Yeah happened few times. Happens quite often on tinder dont use it anymore.

Once the chat was going really well she mentioned going for coffee, she then asked was I really 5'6 I was like yeah (it's on my profile on tinder) never heard back from her. Assuming she wanted someone taller because rest of message was lovely. Would rather her say she prefers taller men I'd be like ok

Gosh I've been ghosted lots of times . It used to bother me wondering what I've done wrong.

It doesn't worry me too much these days. I'm not one to chase and I'm a big believer of if they want to talk to me then I'll talk back. One message in and one message out. I'm very stubborn so probably not done myself any favours by not sending that second message as I don't want to be one of those single guys that pester.

It's not happened to be in years and years on here, but maybe that's because I never contact anyone first, I just reply. I never instigate further conversation or meetings either, so I wouldn't know if they had ghosted me.

It's happened a few times in real life though.

Some years ago it happened with a real life friend from childhood. It affected me so badly I had to have counseling

Mostly over it now, but still don't know why it happened.

It depends on what your definition of ghosting is really.

Someone you chat to who just stops chatting I don't consider ghosting. It's just realising you don't have much in common or one has said or done something the other doesn't like.

Someone who doesn't show for a meet or arranges one and stops chatting beforehand or even after if you arranged another is more ghosting I think.

It's only happened once tho when I had a meet arranged and the guy stopped chatting a day or so before. So on the day I messaged again and cancelled the meet I'd never just not show. He got on touch a few months later trying to get to chat again but there is no second chance.

Indeed. Though people need to be sure that ghosting is not simply just getting bored after 1 or 2 brief conversations and ending the conversation with no warning, or returning to a convo/messaging after a brief hiatus - not that is what you are saying. But much more the sudden and abrupt end to a connection that has had a mid level amount of effort put in to it. All forms of communication ceased and blocked.

Simple ghosting is common practice with no strings situations. Always has been, even before the Internet. Giving out a fake number etc. Plus who really cares when it's just a stranger, you have barely conversed with. But when it is somebody you have been in depth with, physically or just mentally, then that shit hurts. It hits hard and deep.

Currently going through being ghosted right now it seems, none fab I will add.

2 years of getting to know and then actually knowing somebody only for them to just cease contact. No explanation or warning just gone.

Just to add, I know they are safe and well, so nothing has happened to them.

i think its both , obviously they impact you to varying degrees, but if you engage with people at all , swap contact details and then just cut that off with no explanation its still ghosting and its just plain rude - nobody is saying because you’ve been chatting with folk a few days you need to follow through on anything, but people have forgotten how to have a little respect and just say sorry im not interested in it going further - no harm done and instead ghosting breeds insecurity where the other person wonders what they might have done wrong to warrant this behaviour

Yeah, plenty of times over the years. And yes, most usually try to initiate contact again.

One of the oddest ones was a guy off here replying to my "meet today" ad a few years back. We'd known each other a while and we'd arranged to meet at mine. Agreed a time (a couple of hours on). He messages online to say he was just setting off and would be half an hour. Then he went missing off Fab for weeks. Seen him online weeks later, never chased him up. Then months later he messages like nothing happened. Eventually apologises for standing me up but he decided his hair needed a cut and he didn't want to meet without a fresh haircut .

He still pops up every now and again, trying to chat like nothing happened. Most recently asking "you still in a mood?"

"Yeah, plenty of times over the years.

Most recently asking "you still in a mood?""

Lol. Not overly upset by it. Just found it weird to be honest.

More upset that I'd gone to the effort of shaving my legs unnecessarily. That always puts me in a mood. Total waste of a shave. I'm almost over it

I feel you.

When you go on a meet we make a real effort..shave hair makeup. Put together a great outfit and to be ghosted! I would not be happy at all.

But, yeah you gotta let it go, and the person who ghosted you.

I've been Ghosted so many times I should team up with Derak Acorah. They always get back in touch with a half arsed apology or claiming that they thought i would cancel plans. I have arranged to meet again and guess what?!!!!! They ghosted. I have a couple of people on here that put up new profiles and try again. This is where the face pic request comes in handy. Sadly it goes with the territory on these sites.

Yes. It is worse when you spend half the night talking and connect before going again. A week of chats and plans, the exciting second album gets booked and cancelled last minute. Silence, active on fab - ego lowered and belief in courtesy eroded

Thanks OP, that was cathartic even though I went with a dramatised version.

Ghosted constantly. It's how people terminate personal relationships these days.

I'm always left wondering what I did wrong. The messages just stop coming without a word of explanation.

It always feels a bit like Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. Looks like the person I thought cared about me, sounds like the person I thought cared about me... might as well be an alien shapeshifter now.

We made a particular friend here who has now ghosted us. It was purely a social thing. Nothing sexual had happened and it probably wouldn't have, but we got on really well and have been in regular contact for over a year and have met. Now she's just not returning our messages.

She found a regular playmate last year and we suspect it's to do with that. We think it might be more romantic than she expected it to be. But there's no reason we couldn't carry on socialising. It's odd and disappointing.

I've had it where they stopped initiating contact. If i texted i always got a reply but when i stopped texting first radio silence. I called him out and asked if it meant we were done and got a snotty reply that of course not he would tell me. Then again radio silence so i just let it go. I don't chase after guys. Shame he made me laugh and was a great cook.

On here i find chats fade in and out but the guys i really connect with i have never been ghosted and am still seeing even through all the times we can't meet. Love fab!
