We've been to York and Chester, and are planning a trip to Bath. Where else can people recommend? If they've got a bit of nightlife then bonus. Many thanks

Worcester is lovely. Enjoyed the lovely little bars and restaurants.

Lovely place just outside Worcester called Upton upon Seven.

Love Chester and Bath too.

You will enjoy Bath.

Liverpool is a good place. I quite like Ipswich too but it probably doesn't have the nightlife you're looking for.

Oh Dubrovnik is so beautiful! In the UK, Edinburgh. Winchester. I'm not sure if there is a night life in Harrogate but it's lovely.

My nan’s spare room.

Grab a snorkel, Atlantis is amazing.

In reality it’s not ancient but with lots of Tudor buildings Shrewsbury is a lovely place to visit.

Pompeii is quite interesting. They've got a night time light show at the moment, tremendous hellfire and brimstone special effects.

Durham is already on our list (Barnham Castle ) As are Oxford and Cambridge. There's some other great calls, some we've been to, some not. Roll on the summer

Cheltenham is a gorgeous Georgian building kinda place with decent places to go.

Chester, York, Lincoln, Harrogate, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Manchester, even Birmingham have historic parts too. Glasgow is fun too. Bath, Oxford and Cambridge are meant to be nice too.

All good suggestions in previous threats, but surprised no one has suggested Norwich yet ... historic city centre with a good range of bars / restaurants (just avoid Prince of wales road) and lots of locally sourced produce, always have good food there!

There and to the left a bit

Agree with lots of those mentioned already - but a couple to add to the list that are worth a visit...

Bury St Edmunds - smallish town but with the exception of one area has retained much of its olde worlde charm with mainly Georgian architecture and an abbey and associated ruins that form part of the main park - well worth a visit.

Colchester - is a bit of a mish-mash of old and new but has some lovely areas, a zoo worth visiting and a castle and museum that are equally worth a visit.
