Different for each individual.

What makes you think they have no interest ?

Maybe simply to do with boredom, killing time!

After lock-down is lifted and a level of norm. should resume then peeps will spend less time chit-chatting and more time playing...

Because despite saying they have no interest, they are actually heavily invested.

It's the same with people who say "I don't use Facebook"then go on to tell you what's wrong with it. I wonder how they know if they don't use it.

This. And also because it's a way to interact with different people.

Yup.

If they don't care about the topic, they at least care about knocking those who do care

They do have an interest it, be it that they want to tell your opinion is wrong or their own insecurities on a subject. It is how many people work, just the way it is

I would imagine the fact that we are socialy distant at the moment, some people just need to reach out and feel a part of something. Not everybody on this site has a parner, part of a couple or connected with anybody so, for those people it's the feeling of being part of a social group.

It depends what the topic of the thread is and who has posted on it. Some threads are quite specific, that's why I never venture into the Politics forum, cos I don't do politics, but will occasionally post on a thread that I've read through and find has gone off course and is humorous

"Anyone care to help shed some light?"

They dont and you can tell with the many posts that are not filled.

If its a known member oh yes filled to the brim and closed, an unknown member and it simply gets ignored.

I do wonder, especially if it’s a bit of a niche subject that people are quite passionate about. I only post if I have an opinion or to add something to the discussion that’s not been brought up yet.

There’s all sorts of threads that annoy me (especially those ‘let’s be nice today type, as if I have to be told !!) but I don’t comment on them just pass them by.

I don't recall seeing any posts in a thread where the poster says that they aren't interested in the subject matter but here's my thoughts anyway (or words to that effect) - maybe I haven't been paying attention? They may not have a clue about the subject matter but that a whole different thing.

By the way OP, interesting thread, I hope you appreciate my thoughts.

By interest so you mean dislike the topic, or contribute nothing to the topic at all other than to tear it down at every turn - statements, not discussion?

I generally dislike football, therfore I don't post or contribute to the threads. I have zero fucks or opinions about it.

I however will jump in and offer a counter opinion or play devil's advocate to threads that give room for discussion that I may not like or agree with.

Passed Beyond Reach

Common theme is people post silly subjects cos it gets them noticed, well they hope.

People post to express their on view, don't like when people disagree.

Some post cos they want some sort of group acceptance.

Some you have to contribute to just because they are fun, even if the motives are little bit self serving.

It is what it, just try not to take things too seriously, else forums is probably not the place

I don’t use Facebook - purely because all the Live laugh loving, frenchie owning, lonsdale trainer wearing, scummy mummy, council estate bellends bang on about it in the school playground - sounds like the internet version of teeside, and i just dont need that in my life

Because it isn't always clear from a post title what it is about, then the first post is a question so you decide that while you're there you may as well answer it.
