When/if you've been messaging someone, do you wonder what they sound like and if you've had the opportunity to speak to them in person, have they sounded like you thought??

I always wonder that too , every forumite I know I build up an imaginary voice , and to be fair, most of the ones I've spoke to , I'm not far off

I haven't heard anyone I've messaged but I'd love to hear a couple of people. I'd rather receive a voice note over pictures. Makes the conversation much more immersive

.

Not just from when I've been messaging someone! I give everyone a voice/accent that matches their posts on here. Oh and different pitches - some women would have that high pitched squeak.

Some times I've been disappointed when I've met them in real life, other times I've been spot on. Very rarely have I been pleasantly surprised to hear someone but when that happens?

It was good to hear some Fab people speak on videos via a recent thread, some surprises, mostly very pleasant ones.

When I think about Scottish accents I still think about the film Local Hero which is one of my favourites.

I certainly wonder what you sound like, OP. I've only had the opportunity to speak to two people we met through Fab and there weren't any surprises. I have been a bit surprised by some of the Fab voice challenge videos though.

People think I would sound feminine, when in reality my voice is really deep dont really suit my feminine face but hey ho.

I've been surprised by a few on here actually sound a lot more posh than I'd of thought.

Unless they send me a wanking vid with a bit of dirty talk thrown in, a voice is always a mystery until we meet.

I quite like that. Adds a bit of spicy intrigue. Do they sound like Kermit the Frog or will they sound like Barry White. Do they expect me to sound sultry like Kathleen Turner or high pitched whiny like Miss Piggy.

After you’ve been texting for ages with someone I think it can really help to make that connection to know what they sound like too.

For that reason I leave a video on my profile that I uploaded a while ago for one of NotSoPosh’s challenge threads.

It’s not exactly Shakespeare but it gives an idea of what I sound like

I always wonder Because I’m way too shy to record my voice or talk on cam, I always wait to hear them on first meet too.

Usually ends up as a nice surprise for me as I can never guess the voice or the accent.

However, I took a plunge last week and recorded my voice and uploaded on fab for the first time, don’t think I will ever listen it again myself but I finally have something for future voice challenges

I occasionally send a voice message via WhatsApp, and the reaction is always "you aren't as scouse as I'd thought". I hope thats a good thing, but who knows?

Most of the time I don't imagine regional accents, everyone here has an RP accent and it surprises me when that's not the case.

It always adds a closer connection when you know how someone speaks. I tend to read their messages (in my head) in their voice, for added authenticity

Does anyone remember the film "Jumpin' Jack Flash" lots of initial comms were done on old computer terminals text only, but when the lead visits the appartment and hears the answerphone kick in she's able to "hear" the word in the other persons voice.

Just struck me as something similar
