Course they love you.

But with cats, you belong to them. They like to retain an image of aloof independence. But really they love you. They just play it cool.

We want animals, especially those that we love, to have the same emotions and relationship qualities that we do. It's unrealistic, probably. We've evolved differently. I've had cats that seemed devoted and loving. But I think that we probably misinterpret their devotion and dedication to us. It's not to say that our love is superior, potentially their emotional bond to us is that

That’s right, cats truly believe they own you and if they bring you live animals it’s because they are trying to train you to hunt. I’m not sure my cats love me , we certainly have a complex relationship !

A definite bond can be forged between humans and animals but love means something very different to an animal than a human

Had many mouse offerings sadly. Always rescue them if they're savable.

Humans love one another from chemistry (attraction) kindness, selflessness, and mindfulness. Wonder what makes a cat tick.

Cats (and probably all animals, pets I mean) are incredibly special and grow to have unique bonds with us.

I grew up with a pet cat from the age of two. Who was so very gentle. My parents secretly got rid of her and told me she went to ‘live on a farm’.

Then another from when I was 11 -21, she was an amazing character. Used to steal fish from the next door neighbours pond and leave them as gifts for me on the back door.

Finally, I was lucky to meet Tiger at the cats rescue centre, very very shy at first but took a shine to me and she honestly helped me (obviously without knowing) through some difficult growing up as a young person.

Cats are brilliant and all have unique personalities.

My kitten is a angel she snuggles under the blankets with us craves attention and is so sweet .My Tom is a grumpy miserable selfish old man that does what he wants when he wants but we love him unconditionally anyway.

My Tom is best described as awkward. He sits next to me giving you love eyes, but if I pick him up. He wriggles and claws you within 3 seconds. Wierdo.

Cat's are like women, you can never take their love and affection for granted. You have to constantly re-affirm your affections for them and you're always working to retain their love!

And giving them nice little treats to eat helps!

The Ancient Egyptians worshipped them with good reason.

I lost one of my 5 yesterday and feel it keenly, and the others have been clingy and subdued.

In their own way they do. Ours is an independent wee madam who doesn't like cuddles. Only time she's willingly came and showed me affection is when I got some bad news last year and was sitting by myself quite upset. She came over and cooried into my lap and gazed up at me. They understand far more than we give them credit for.

Nor does any other animal love you.

I do realise I am working on my definition of love .....

You know how we love them because they’re our pet?

That’s literally reversed. We’re their pet.

A dog looks up and sees the person who feeds him, tends to him when ill, and treats him well and thinks YOU MUST BE GOD.

Apparently, Churchill once said, "Dogs look up to you, cats look down on you, but pigs treat you as equals"
