You never know what people are going through.

If you can't say anything nice (or constructive), maybe it's better to say nothing at all

Be kind

It's a funny old world isn't it OP?!

People say.. 'We don't need reminding to be kind' I disagree. I think it does us all good to stop and think once in a while.

Reminders are good. We are not all built the same way. We are not robots.

Being kind should come naturally I think. But it doesn't hurt to remind either.

Who's this one aimed at?

Because it's usually someone in particular

No, airing dirty laundry and nitpicking are against forum rules.

People need to take this place with a pinch of salt.

Take the rough with the smooth.

If you have a picture I guess it’s there to be judged

Nice sentiment, which I try to be mindful of most days.

For some folk though, a verbal toe up the arse is the only way to go. I make sure to deliver it with a smile though

It's an ancient Chinese proverb isn't it.

And to quote Bruce Lee.

"It's like a finger pointing to the sky, dooont concentrate on the finger or you will miss all the heavenly glory which surrounds it"

Not relevant but I like it, obviously the quick smack on the forehead is missing from the quote

Everyone is bored and frustrated at the moment. Sometimes we just all need a little reminder.

So easy to just hit the post button without worrying about the consequences.

We all lose it now and again, we're human. Just being the big enough person to maybe sometimes say "you know what, that was a dick move, I'm sorry"

Nah. It's far too absolute.

Fully agree that you never know what somebody is going through but that is never a good excuse to be forced to saying something nice, or say nothing at all.

Sometimes a situation (regardless of factors) needs to be said bluntly, or direct. The world needs more balance, not extremists of nice/good/positive and mean/bad/negative.

I'll say whatever is fit for the situation, that needs saying. If that so happens to hurt somebodies feelings then that's on them so long as I say what I said with respect. The critical part is not what is said but being mindful of how it is said.

We all come from our own life experiences, opinions, thoughts and ideas and we may find that we don’t always agree with everyone we meet or speak to. I think this is fine, we don’t have to. I also think that when we get negative feedback in the Forums, we feel attacked and emotional so our first response is to attack back. Yes, try to be kind but don't just stay quiet if you disagree with something, we should all be able to voice our own opinions.

This works both ways

People who are going through stuff tend to lose their shit quite easily

My life ain't going great at the minute so I have, to a large degree, stayed away from the Forums and just popped by to be silly

There is a lot of good here, but there is a lot of crap goes down too which, for a toffee (as we say round these parts), I could quite easily react to negatively

So, staying away, or not regularly contributing, is better for all

I'm not excusing bullying or being a snide, but if you know your head isn't in a great place, step away from situations that 'potentially' will make things worse
