my questions on the Team GB national anthem thread are getting lost lol

so....

1) Why are we represented as team GB? someone on the thread said we should be the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - is it just because thats a bit of a mouthful??

2) Why cant Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland represent themselves?

sure there was a thrid but cant think of it now

1) Team GB is a brand name I guess to make it more catchy

2) England, Wales and Scotland are represented by the British Olympic Association collectively as they don't have their own Olympic associations (I think)

Ive already said before that my stepsister played for england hockey team in atlanta for GB. She actually played hockey for england, but had to change to play for great britian. She still coaches England though but she was interviewed on the local television when the torch went to leicester because of her connections
