This might be proving your point, but I’ll say it anyway.

People love talking about themselves on the forums, literally love it, they can’t get enough of talking about themselves, no one else finds themselves as fascinating as they do. Also the most successful threads are where people are asked to talk about themselves in some way or other, so they’ve got carte Blanche. I’m not saying everyone is like this, just the majority.
