The womaniser I assumed was going to be a certain person (my bad) but it was about a toy, and from what I assumed OP was describing how it became too intense as about to reach climax and often had to pass and turn volume/intensity/power etc right down and therefore was left feeling frustrated, female equivalent of blue balls I guess xx that’s my interpretation of what op was trying to put across but I may be wrong as the OP has gone xx

We're all different but it's the opposite for me. I dind a lot of vibrators too intense and continuing just makes me numb. I don't like letting others use them in me for this reason as I prefer to be able to adjust things when it gets too sensitive so I don't just end up numb and frustrated.

Personally I find vibrators work better for me without direct contact with the clit. I either use it more on the clitoral hood or if that's too much I close my legs a bit and use it through the closed lips.
