Conspiracy Theories

With all thos Covid-19 and lockdown, its brought all the conspiracy theorists and Qanon out of the woodwork. Although i love a bit of conspiracy theory myself and i try to respect other people's views, sometimes i have to say "errr...No".

Some of these theories are so idiotic and it leads me to think our education system is so flawed that its producing ill educated people who try to make sense out of things they don't understand with huge gaps in their knowledge.

The question is what is the weirdest conspiracy theory or idiotic comment you've heard during these lockdown periods.

My favourite is people runing up to 5G towers with electromagnetic readers stating its spewing radiation killing people. I had to educate some of the people on the "correct" apparatus to use when checking for radiation, then had to explain the 2 types of radiation and then explain what they were actually measuring. All basic secondary school stuff..... explaining to grown adults.....these adults are now homeschooling their kids.

I agree that critical thinking skills should be better developed in school, so that we don't become at the mercy of people, like the US mob who believed the election results were fake news etc.

We have to value education much higher than we do overall here. When comparing ourselves to the millions in other countries who can only dream of a little education and have nothing.

The moon isn't a solid object.

When you see the moon during the day you can actually see the blue sky through it.

This is an observable irrefutable fact.

This means that these things are true...

1. It's waxes and wanes through different levels of transparency.

2. If you can see the sky through it, really isn't that far away and inside the earth atmosphere.

3. The moon landings are a fraud.

4. If NASA are lying about this, can we trust anything they say or do?

During these periods...

I think the biggest conspiracy theory is the one the media is spinning.

Idiotic comments...

The four leaders of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales all doing things in their own little way but then telling the people we must all work together if we're going to beat this!

The shock and disgust at the whole panic buying in lockdown proper, of essentials that left many elderly and vulnerable without. But then our wonderful government panic buying every vaccine going, leaving many millions of elderly and vulnerable people around the world without.

Outside of lockdown best ever conspiracy theory has to be anti ageing cream

The government pre-bought them before approval. Only one of those vaccines could have been viable, and if so we wouldn't have had enough for every and people would be complaining that the government didn't buy enough vaccines.

Turns out more were viable, and any surplus will go to those in need elsewhere. I can't critisise the government on that one.

Most rediculous one in general was hearing a couple of people discussing that gravity doesn't exist

Covid wise - Someone forwarded me a message a couple of days ago saying a load of stuff about treating covid. One point was that we need to eat alkaline foods with a pH above covid. The alkaline foods listed included orange 9.2pH, pineapple 12.7pH, lemon 8.2pH plus others. I politely explained that basic school science plus understanding that citric fruits contain citric acid (clue's in the name!) mean that the validity of the information should probably be questioned.

All the things you mentioned are not observable and provable. It just means you lack the knowledge to understand what you're seeing so you believe other people who have gaps in their knowledge so you come together and form an opinion based on falsehoods.

One of my favs is people who watched Bill Gate's Ted talk and think he is trying to depopulate the world by giving poisonous vaccines and sterilising Africans.

I always point out what he said and what it meant but never underestimate the power of stupidity. If we could harness people's stupidity we would have an energy source more abundant than the sun

To be fair, the galactic federation one is more plausible than some of the Covid ones.

When Trump announced his space force, he must have done it for a reason, so he was briefed about something.

And the navy and dept of defence have acknowledged unidentified aerial phenomena exist and looking at some of that military footage. More plausible than tracking chips in vaccines

Question stuff yes. That is what science does all the time. That what it is about.

The problem is most people who believe these conspiracies are just blindly following someone else who told them about it, not are 'not' questioning them, or looking at why they ignore all evidence, logic and reason when presented to them.

No that's a fact. You understand the levels of health and safety they have to tick off just to send a man to the ISS? What they achieved during the moom landing was nothing short of incredible, they cut so many corners, the Apollo 13 incident was a disaster. You are obviously someone ill informed and has no clue about science so you are ignorant on the matter
