My f/b started last year a caramel blonde - just before lockdown one had full head of blonde highlights and a silver toner and was a gorgeous shade of platinum blonde

During lockdown did her roots with peroxide twice - first time it was wonderful- the second time she basically ruined her hair and had to get layers cut in as soon as hairdresser reopened

Throughout 2020 she has basically returned to her natural brown shade but iwith increasingly noticeable grey roots

Her plan is to return to full blonde when the salon opens but in the interim should she be reaching for a box dye to cover her roots or will that impair the stylist if salons reopen soon?

I'd think she's better leaving it alone until the hairdressers open again. Maybe some conditioning treatments in the meantime.

Coconut oil is good. Whack some cling film on and wrap it in a towel.

Loreal do wee root touch up things. Think it comes in a green bottle. It's basically make up for your roots so will cover the grey without doing any damage.

Ive box dyed first lock down and again this time.. My stylist just dyeed over what I'd done.. He said shouldn't be a problem when I messaged and said I'd done the dye.. If she has her stylist number maybe she could message and ask for advice.. Mines currently doing a live fb feed on a friday for any questions and or if anyone needs advise..

Olaplex is amazing and will help with the condition of the hair. Or Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer treatment.

There's also a cheaper option - L'oreal's Dream Lengths Miracle Water or something like that? It's got 8 seconds in the title somewhere. Coconut oil can definitely help as well. Whatever is used, use liberally and leave it on for as long as possible.

I'd leave it alone, my hairdresser reckons they'll be open by April or May at the latest.

I agree that they should use treatment regularly and I'd suggest daily use of something like L'Oreal Mythic Oil through the ends and longer lengths. Let it dry naturally bit possible and pay off heat stylers. Alway, always use some sort of heat protection anyway.

I had highlights a couple of years ago and it's taken ages to get my hair back to good condition.

Blonde is a colour I’d never mess around with. I’m box red (my hairdresser costs a small fortune for a colour) but have been for years & do mine in layers like a hairdresser does. Takes hours & is back breaking but worth it so save £90+

Haven’t been to a hairdressers in about 3 years. Colour mine myself and been cutting my own with the help of a friend.

Can’t justify the costs.
