I always cut my own hair

Not paying 25quid to sit in the chair for five minutes while they cut off less than an inch

Its like electricians and vets though innit

They know everyone needs them, and cant do the job themselves, so they basically have a licence to print money

I’ve cut my own hair for years, luckily it’s thick and curly so the odd mishap doesn’t show !

I've been tempted to shave mine all off.

Laughing at myself now because I hate shaving my pubes.

Like a car mechanic once said to me .... If I charge £50 to adjust one screw that will fix the problem with your car, then it's only £1 to adjust the screw and £49 for knowing which screw to adjust

Thats a fair point

But you cant deny that some tradesmen charge extortionate prices

Just look at vets, as an example.

We used to do each others hair on the way home on the school bus with a comb with razor blades attached to it. Feather cuts were all the rage, god knows what we looked like and what the bus cleaners used to think.

Mr N does his with clippers very successfully. I do the back. We lent my dad an old set of clippers during last lockdown. It all went well until my mum said she thought he should take the no 8 guard off .

And then there’s the banal conversation to sit through, though 5 minutes of it is probably tolerable!

My friend is a hairdresser.

Shes also banned me from cutting my own hair until I can see her.

I think she definitely trusts my superb skills x

I pay about £50 each visit for a trim and root touch up, I'm more than happy to pay it and don't mind spending a couple of hours chatting to the stylists and other clients. I know some salons charge a lot more.

I've cut my hair twice in the last year. My hairdresser wasn't impressed when I told her I was going to do it but needs must. Luckily it's quite curly so if it's not straight, it doesn't show

My son had the clippers put over his by his dad because it was such a state, he came back with no hair

I gave myself a "trim" 2 weeks ago now. Took about 6 inches off. I still need to see an actual hairdresser tho as it's been 3 years.

I was in the cupboard under the stairs a couple of days ago, saw the dog clippers and was SOOOOOOO tempted to give myself a shave down the one side.

I gave my partner a lockdown haircut last week when he asked if I would.

Though no formal training I have cut hair for some male family members in the past.

I have a decent pair of hairdressers scissors, patience, a steady hand & confidence not to make a hash up of it.

Both of us were pretty pleased with the results too!

My lockdown hairdressing skills may need to be brought out again soon for my Mum and Dad! They will not be happy to wait much longer to get the chop I am sure!

I cut my own and dye it too. I dye it ombre with 3 colours. Think that's what it's called anyway.

This was me 10 month ago.

I had images of rocking a shaved head like James Marsden, Channing Tatum & justin Timberlake, but no i looked like a right skallywag... i discovered my head resembled a monkey nut.

I’ve trimmed my ends. Only a slight trim. My kids won’t let me touch theirs

I don’t colour my hair but I did attempt two blonde streaks at the front but they turned ginger so I’m just embracing that.

First DIY cut during first lockdown was ok. Second and third cuts, not so. Waiting until Monday for word of when barbers might reopen before I do further violence to my hair!

My hair doesn't grow that much. It's all the chemicals I put on it stops it. My ginger roots coming through now.

Nr. Oxford

I lopped off 4 inches in November as I was getting fed up with the length. I consider myself lucky though as I don’t dye it and it’s naturally curly so very forgiving.
