It’s the thinking of something to cook everyday too , my kids take the piss and say I basically just do the same 5 or 6 meals over and over , they’re not wrong

I very seldom cook dinners. Quite happy with toast or cereal.

We like most dinners to be cooked fresh. I'm sticking a pizza in the oven tonight though.

I wouldn't mind cooking so much if I didn't have to wash up afterwards.

Most households have a stock of 5 or 6 meals they rely on, I am sure of it.

Whenever I'm on my own I'll have soup or a sandwich.

For 2 weeks once I had soup, sandwiches and one Chinese takeaway. I could quite happily just snack all day.

My eldest now cooks lovely meals all from scratch I think she’s trying her best not to be like me when it comes to cooking lol !

We have quite a few meals I cook from scratch and most evenings my son decides what we have. It's much harder when he's trying to get in shape and eat healthier as he cuts out potatoes, salt, sugar and fat.

I'm supposed to make food taste great still.

I used to enjoy cooking special meals for friends. I've lost all interest in it now.

I only cook because of my son, or when a grandchild stays over.

I live alone 50% of the time. Cooking for one seems a bit pointless, especially as I don't enjoy it.

Cooking is such a drag, but I have to otherwise I’d lose weight.

Exactly. All that effort and trying to buy for one when you can make a sandwich or heat up some soup.

I live alone & feel kinda similar to you on this.

I didn't used to think it was "worth" cooking just for me, & heck, I still far prefer cooking for myself and others, but

I love the "eating" process! So realise that if I want tasty, varied & good food, it does mean cooking for myself properly.

And I am worth it!

I solve the problem by batch cooking, and freezing down some portions which saves time, and gives me quick meals to simply reheat on another day when I don't feel like spending much time in the kitchen.

Funny, my bro has just messaged me same thing, he lives alone and hates cooking for one even though he is a really good cook.

I like cooking but yes it's always nice when someone else cooks for me.

Especially after a year in bloody lockdown

I've only started cooking again since January. It felt like a waste just for me but I did some batch cooking and I'm glad I did.

That's all run out now so I'm back on mainly soup and toast

I'm debating not cooking tonight. I'm absolutely shattered and really can't be bothered. Husband and kids really need feeding though and I will feel guilty if I don't make something.

Best thing about living alone. I eat what I like when I like. Now getting more experimental with my cooking and as a previous comment stated, it’s much better when you’re cooking for someone else

I'm feeling too tired to drive to collect, it's a bugger that no one delivers to us. Fancy getting on your bike?
