"I don't know anything about it. How long have you had it for? It would definitely get me down not being able to sleep! Does it come and go, or always there. Hope it eases off for you x" I’ve had it on and off since my teens , it used to come and go every few weeks but the last 6 months it’s been relentless and there’s never and pattern to what makes it worse , I mean in the grand scheme of things It could be worse it’s just bloody annoying and the lack of sleep is sometimes a killer x

"I have a variation of this, but linked to my Osteoarthritic knees, when pain kicks in at intervals throughout sleeping, and causes the legs to jerk and move involuntarily, thus creating more pain and waking new up. Some times it can reach to my feet, contorting them outside of my control. I seldom get a full night's sleep." That’s interesting as I also have bad arthritis in my knees which has got worse over the last year, horrible isn’t it ?! X

But, still things like this can get one down. I had a recurring back pain and it made me so miserable. It was relentless..it kind of took over. Thankfully it eased off! I really hope yours does too and soon you get a good night's sleep x

But I saw a consultant surgeon on Wednesday, at my local BUPA hospital which is doing a lot of the routine surgical Operations which the NHS can't do due to lack of normal capacity. "I get this. Its horrendous at times and the aching and cramping and last for hours. I've also had it in my arms. I've tried the heat rubs. Sometimes they help but not for long at all. Other times wrapping my legs tightly in a warm blanket under the duvet can help, other times nothing does..and although mostly at night it can happen in the car or cinema.." This is just like mine .. any where I relax .. not tried wrapping them going to give that a go .. stretching does help some nights ..

It only reached stage 4, 18 months ago. But the right hand was only first diagnosed 2 years ago, but is already at Stage 4. The left hand developed sometime from February 2019 to August last year when I was on an Osteoarthritis Pain Relief Drug Trial, which masked all O/A pains. That hand is now at Stage 4 too. Current pain meds work 50% in my knees but nowhere else.

"Thank you all for your responses and advice, I’ve got a phone appointment with the docs Monday so might ask for a blood test to check my iron levels, and also try a few things that people have mentioned that I’ve not already tried x" I have been prescribed Quinine Sulfate by my GP for said condition. Some very interesting answers in the thread. Personally, exercise before bed didn't work, not tried deep heat but I found a cold damp towel half hour before bed worked.
