Got a dispute with a neighbour

They have just had clading installed to the front of there property but it now comes over on to my side by about 50mm can they do this or should it have stoped at the boundary

I'm no legal expert but I'd say they shouldn't have come over your side. I bet they did it hoping it wouldn't be noticed as it might mean that they had to cut all the tiles.

They ahve crossed the property boudery and you could take them to court, thew would be asked to rectify iy and pay for any damages caused to your property.

I would speak to them first and try to keep it friendly, once you start to argue with a neighbur, it could become a nightmare.

Does the 50mm really cause you a issue? Or are you just being petty?

First call would be speak to him.

In all honesty it would cost you a fortune in court and i doubt you would win as the 300mm joint wall is 'common ground so 50mm over is in 'common adjacent wall'

Similar happened to me with render & roof.

When i moved into my home i had one neighbour he was a stubborn twa7, i renovated and went fairly modern reroofed my side which went 100mm into his due to tile cross over... he wasnt pleased, caused me agro tried to go though court with me ect. In the end ot got messy , he lost couldnt afford the court fees, i bought his house kicked him out and made one big house.

50mm = 5cm and in my opinion needs dealing with now.

Be careful with your air space. If your neighbour hovers over your air space for a good few years you can't claim that back.

What if you want to build ? extend ? put cladding on ?

I can't comment with confidence as I can't see the property.

It is. Although a 5 cm carrot is no good in my flower bed...

No and have cut in to the copingstones on the boundary wall that is on my land as the previous owners did not want a wall at all
