Chronic pain

I have an on going health condition that flares up regularly. As a result, have spent the last 6 weeks in constant pain.

It is very bad tonight. And I'm on my own and just feel awful.

Can anyone relate? Any tips I could try?

It's really getting to me. Every treatment I have tried has failed and I'm starting to run out of options. I just think - why me?

I'm so sorry. I have friends and family who suffer. I know there aren't any easy answers, but you have my empathy. I hope you can get some respite and sleep.

Can definitely relate, I have constant pain and have done for a long time. All I can suggest is use any pain meds you might have/find useful; recognise what might make flares worse or trigger them and try to keep a handle on them and don't be afraid to retire to bed or take a break if you need it. I've not found any way to alleviate my pain properly.

Does distraction help or keeping really warm ? Have you got a tens machine? How about gentle massage with warm oil? I know it sounds odd but sometimes concentrating on inhaling a nice smell can help too.

Have you tried cbd oil?

I can empathise fully. I have been using a hot water bottle on my hip for days now and sleeping on it. It's never worked before but like you had no other option. So tried again. This time I have actually had a few hours less pain today.

I wish you love and strength.

Thank you, I appreciate that.

I think what's hard is I have no idea how long the pain will last for (the worst episode was four months) and exactly how bad it will be day to day. I cope with pain relatively well, but when it drags on with no clear end, I start getting mentally fatigued and very depressed.

hiding from cock pics.

I don't really know how to help, but I just wanted to say that I hope that it eases soon and you feel much better.

Something that I find can help is to give my brain something else to concentrate on as a means of distraction. Crosswords or similar for instance.

I know if the pain is constant and severe it’s very difficult to focus on anything else but I find it helps to try.

Hope you find some respite, it can be very draining. Good luck.

My pain condition is kept in check with a silly amount of Gabapentin when it strikes.

Pre Covid my regular trips to the pain clinic helped a lot with the management. But that’s dropped off somewhat for the time being.

Every complimentary therapy I tried never touched it.

Other then my pharmacy in a cupboard, I agree, the elecrtic blanket works well. Other things i do is tens machine, hot water bottles and deep heat.

I suffer with alot of muscular pain in my right leg, lower back pain and issues off 2 slipped discs, nerve damage and server restless legs, all of it gets really bad especially during the winter.

I completely understand where you're at and I'm sending you hugs and love. As other people said do the little things that will help like heat/cold, rubbing the most affected area gently (arnica oil is great), pain meds as prescribed and the most important part self love. I've noticed along my journey with pain how quick my thoughts can turn negative and nasty when I can do less due to the pain and exhaustion. Go gentle on yourself, speak nicely and lovingly to you, it will pass xx

I have switched between the two when tolerance kicks in for a while.

Not sure where the pain is, but maybe look into trying acupuncture perhaps?

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

OP, I completely empathise.

Chronic pain is debilitating. It affects you physically, yes, but mentally it can be crippling. Especially at the moment when the world is so difficult anyway.

There are days when I can't move because of pain, and days when I can't move because the big black dog of depression is crushing me.

The fog of pain meds, for me, is just as bad as the pain itself but in a different way. And worse when it doesn't always dull the pain enough.

I wish I had any suggestion, I do, but honestly all I can do is send hope for it to ease and healing thoughts your way.
